Critically acclaimed as Koff's best album ever.

After all these years, I never noted that Nyboma participated in the chorus. That’s probably an additional reason the chrous on that album was the best ever for Quartier Latin. I consider him the best deuxieme voix the genre will ever have.

Thank you for sharing the liner notes and credits, this is definately among Koffi's best albums!

I had no idea Djudju Chet played drums on this album! Was Champion not yet recruited into QL or was he unable to obtain papers to record the album in Europe?

Even though things worked out with Somono and Mboshi, it was sad to see Beevans work with the group conclude here. He always had presence, though his cadence was a bit too similar to Robert Ekokota of Wenge Musica.

I wouldn't of been surprised if Koffi got negative feedback for that or whether it factored in those recruitments later on.

What is your favorite rhumba and sebene from this album?

The QL Lineup of Vocalists in this album, will never be surpassed in my opinion. Koffi got the mix of vocalists absolutely tuned for the songs. The guitarists are legendary and the arrangement is top-notch.

In my Opinion this was the height of Koffi as a musician and he defined the era at this point in time.

Champion came in 1996.

I noticed that Coco Tchomba never played on Koffi's solo albums at the moment he was in Quartier Latin (Noblesse Oblige & V12). Kaps Kapangala who was not really a amazing drummer was far better than him. Watching those concerts of 1991-1996 you will see that he was very limited as drummer and it became more clear when Champion came. You could feel the huge difference during the concerts when the two guys were sharing the drums. I think that Champion's drumming style made Koffi call him "Esthetique".

My favorite rumba is Aspirine followed by Fouta Djallon. I also like the diss songs Andrada & Nouveau Testament. I wonder what Papa Wemba was thinking when he heard Andrada. But i prefer Malanda Ngombe as diss-song. All sebenes are excellent. I really like the way Blanchard Miantezolo played bass on the album. Who played lead on Andrada ? Felly Tyson or Beniko Popolipo ? Because Felly Tyson never played the distortion in concerts. Which made me think if it was really him who played lead in that song. Zokere & Bambino were also good rumba's. Those songs are so underrated.

yeah in his first tour in 1992 he brougt 2 singer (Aladji & Suzuki), in 1993 3 and from1994 he started to bring 4. In 1998 it was the first time that he brougt 6.

I always under impression that Koffi at the time dedicated distortion to Lebou & Beniko. And that Beniko played solo and distortion on Andrada, while Koffi took the role of rythm, with Lebou on Mi-solo.

Yea, Koffi never had confidence in Coco Tchomba - too one-dimensional. I also don't understand why Kaps Kapangala didn't get more time; he faired better becoming a session drummer. Djuju Music was the best session drummer so he was very reliable.

My favorites are Fouta Djallon, Asprine, & Bambino, but I really loved Etat Civil. Of all the Koffi songs I've played a lot, Etat Civil is probably the one I repeated the most.

I know there are songs that did not make the cut due to time constraints, I wonder if Koffi has those recordings for himself still. Also, he used to make multiple instrumental variations of his songs, so he might have different versions of Fouta Djallon, Park ya Baba, Bambino, & Chantou.

Did Koffi & Quartier Latin play concerts in Europe in 1995 because I never saw of extract of concert following the release of Magie and before V12 (expect the Aquaboulevard concert on December 24th 1994) even the presentation of Magie at Intercontinental in 95 i would love too see thoses concerts. Beevans said 3 years ago that played a fara-fara concert with Wenge Musica LSC in 95 is it true ?

Exactly like you, my favorite rumba are Fouta Djallon (for me its the best song of Koffi), Aspirine, Bambino and my favorite sebenes are Dossier du jour et Miss Toutsi !

Ofcourse they played concerts in Europe. I remember that they played then at LSC. Those VHS are very rare. We need to thank LZ Ingenieur, Seben Total, Mengi Massamba (so sad that they deleted his channel) for uploading many video's who were lost. I don't know about a Fara-Fara concert with Wenge in '95. That's the thing that I liked about that era before 1997. Bands or artist who don't like each or beefing with each other having a concert at te same stage. Fally & Ferre would have a lot of money by  doing that in 2007 Or 2010 at Palais des Sports, Zenith, Bataclan or Palais du Peuple, but they are they are "kidiba".

I knew I wasn't the only one who thought thay way about Beevans, kiekiekie! At least in Magie, his cries (regardless of similar vocal cadence to Ekokota) was at least lyrically unique from the Wenge counter part. He always gets me grooving with that "Kangi Nzela" animation!

Throughout V12, I felt that his animation borrowed heavily from Pentagone and Pile Ou Face. Even the opening track for the album, Beevans doesn't appear until the last third of the song. Perhaps his cries were too close to the competitions for Koffi's liking which had him phased out.
