Hmmm the 242-album isn't very bad like the way people say. It's just that the generique is bad and the sebenes. But the songs are good. It's not a super album, but it's ok. The thing which I don't like about this album is the sound of the drums. But that is often the problem with albums recorded in Brazzaville & Kinshasa. But people don't notice it, because the generiques have always a good drum-sound. Abacadabra of Koffi & Power of Fally are example.

Its actually pretty good musically. I was very impressed. I was expecting a distortion album with every track playing the same arragements but looks like roga spreaded his ndombolo horizon. He almost sounds like roga from droit de veto or attentat I cant remember which album he played solo on for one song. The animation was really good. I was really high when I listened to it but id say best album of 2018 so far.

lol, what? Blaise Bula's album is a much better body of work.

I'm doubting if Roga Roga played lead on this album. In a interview of 2016 or 2017 I don't remember he said that he would play lead and that he would let his singers sing themselves, but it smees that Sonor Digital played lead on the whole album.

Except the generique, the sebenes of the songs are good, but the problem is that they are all messed up, because they are everytime interrupted with that "ba petit ba sakani na boulot"-rhythm or/and the "jesus a la croix" distortion guitare, which irritating. I'm tired to hear Etats Unis and Zaparro, because I've heard them already 10 years long and those animations they in this album we already it 1 or 2 years long, so there is nothing new. It smees that they don't listen to the critism people give them. Kindoki was a good album but like 242 all sebenes of the songs were messed up by suddenly interrupting it with the "Mbongo"-rhythm.  If you listen to this album you can feel that they recorded this album without pression, like other albums where they were giving the best of their self because of the rivalery they had with other bands. For me all songs of the albums are good, but it just the sebene messing it up and the generique. Let see how 242 vol. 2 will be.

As for the follow up for 242, I'm pretty sure it's more or less what you've gotten from part one. Did they record this one in Europe, because last I heard they recieved visas? Hopefully the trip will inspire them to write better songs and record with inproved production.

The album came out in March and that was before the trip to Europe. The album was recorded in Brazza in Roga's studio. I don't know if you saw those teasers of 242 on youtube and many interviewd they madd on youtube about thst album in 2016 & 2017.

Volume 2 is already finished, but I think that they will modifie some little things. They recorded more than 20 songs, but with albums flopping the 5 years, they prefered pick 10 tracks and release them on volume 1 and the rest releasing on volume 2 which will come later or next year

How can he composing good rhythms if Telcel and Sonor Digital are doing everthing since 2006 ? Roga Roga needs to pick his guitar up and make us dance like did from Nouveaux Missiles until La Main Noire. He did a good job on Defao's album Anytime.

Sonor keeps dissapointing me as  lead guitarist. Always that same rock-mode again.

but there is the new mi soloist/soloist kokoce who surely played a bit on vol 2 on lead,i would find it strange from roga to let sonor again play all songs when you have a new guy to test in

Matebu I just listened to Blaise Bula’s double album. Are you sure its that much better than 242 ? It didnt strike me as anything special. But since we’re on the subject what other albums would you put in the top 3 of 2018. We’re halfway thru the year already I figured its not too early to make a list

Isn't that the guitarist who ran with Telcel (rhythm guitarist) who ran away in Europe ? Sonor apema nanu. Telcel is a good rhythm-guitarist, but on the other side i'm happy that he left, because his style started to be monotonious. Congolais Tika, Rupture, Oyo Ekoya Eya, Lettre Au President all sound the same and I found it irritating with him interrupting all those sebenes and then keeping playing the same paritition, while other rhyhtm-guitarist would play another partition. Or people it was Sonor or Roga imposing him to do that.

@Brazzaboy ; I gave this album a few times listen on a long drive and I do think it’s a really nice album. Not perfect, because I find myself prefer the non-sebene portions much more. I also skip the générique

Ramatoulaye and Levyson really shined. Roga Roga gave Extra members more space opposed to his previous releases, so you sense the good energy on the songs. For a while it felt like Roga Roga was holding the band hostage and putting all focus on him.
