Congolese people see death as a sad fact, yes, but also an happy one because you are reunited with our famous Koko (forefathers). Death to the Congolese culture it is the pass for an Ancestral power, your name will be remember, respected and passed by of generation in generation, in fact if you check all the Congolese chants dedicated to happy without understanding the words they seems like it is party material, the classical Ah Mafuidi and so on. So it isn't surprising seeing people dancing at funerals, bands getting invited too at the funerals.
On the subject, I remember seeing footage of people dancing to générique Solola Bien at a funeral like it was a concert at Zamba Playa. Can’t find it now, but it was something surreal to me

I think it’s has more to do with family tradition and sects. My family in particular is not outgoing enough to have is practice
