Fally should chill. Let world fame come through music and not forcing it. Have never been his fan though. I'm too much of a Wenge guy hence for me it's Ferre all the way in their competetion. I feel bad for him though. Hope he learnt something.

These BET awards are not an actual reflection of music or anything.The American audience don't know most things about Africa.Am not a Fall fan but I do feel for him.Hope next time he will think twice about going.Another  thing they are always held in USA or Europe.The Kora awards are better in my opinion they are held in Africa for African audiences.His face told a story he was visibly angry.

On a serious note, I think this experience is good for Fally's growth. We've all been through humbling moments that changed our outlook on things. Black Americans care less about African culture (Black Panther the big exception) than many white Americans - my observation from living here for some time.

Wemba went through a similar sort of thing when his "world" audience disappeared a while after Emotion, and then he subsequently went back to focusing on authentic Congolese music and having his poplarity grow when he adapted to the dance era with Ecrita.

I've also notice Fally chilling out on the whole greatest, "GOAT", King, etc rhetoric that peeved some of us last year

I 10000% agree with you you're right about everything you said, I think this is going to be a blessing in disguise.. and also I've been hearing that he's finally starting to recruit younger guys in his group,  and the goat king thing he has slowed down but let's not jinx it

Keep in mind, influence is a important factor when it comes to winning an American music award. Afrobeat is sorta the wave in the hip-hop, outside of trap. The song structure is short compared to Congolese music, making it better to market on Top 40 or Urban radio stations.

To be specific, WizKid got a boost from Drake by their collabortation for One Dance (a Top 40 hit in many international markets) and later they collaborated for a new song for HIS recent album!

I respect Fally Ipupa discography, he's a legend. However, his music hasn't translated past the African diaspora in Europe and Africa. I have yet to see either him or Ferre Gola collaborate with an currently relevant artist from America to get their foot through the door. Americans are lazy music consumers, something seems too foriegn they'll resist. Which is why it was a struggle (even for Nigerian and Ghanian music) to crack the urban and pop market of America.

As we speak, there still remains a Afrobeat of African origin to place itself as a Top 40 hit in recent memory. Even the Asians had to really fight with promotion to get their K-Pop band noticed in the American Music Award catagory, I still don't here them played on conventional music promotion avenues aside from streaming and Youtube.

Just my two cents...

As I've said before, the BET Awards are a waste of time for a Congolese artist, especially a Francophone artist.  Why keep going to the event?  The majority of Black Americans don't give 2 shits about African music, unless you're Fela Kuti reincarnate.

Just sad.
