They guy who talked about Wemba's Zenith of 1999 made my laugh but made also sad on the same time. What he said was true, about many Congolese spectators leaving the concerthall to drink something on the moment when Wemba was performing with his worlmusicband Molokai (songs like Image, Le Voyageur, etc.), calling it then music of white people. But they all returned when Viva La Musica "Cours des Grands" came on stage. This was one of the reasons what Wemba made quit that genre and go back to make the music which his Congolese public were liking, while he had the potential to be bigger than Youssou N'dour.
here a short video of him singing with Molokai. I hope that someone upload that concert on YouTube it have been 15 years that didn't have seen that concert anymore. I remember that it was released in two VHS. Volume 1 with Molokai, Les Quatro and Viva La Musica "Cours des Grands" (Stino having red hair and doing is crazy things after singing MJ Ngoyi) and Volume 2 with Nouvelle Ecriture (Bendo, Pompom and co) and Viva La Musica. The cd-version of that concert is nowwhere on those digitalplatforms, the same for his fantastic Olympia with those fioti fioti's in 2000.
