old academia footage always gives me mixed emotions it makes me happy to see them and pissed to see how they allowed the devil of leadership and external attacks to ruin this

It was prove big bands like BCBG, Maison Mere, Nouvelle Ecrita and Quartier Latin a point and they coming in their way. It could turn in a good way for Sam Tshintu, but not the rest. 4 Coins Kandala was a big hit in Kinshasa. But the problems with the French Justice about the ngulu-affaire (the people he, mboshi, dolce, modogo and Lebou brought to France when they came to tour in 2000 to record Viagra) made it impossible for Sam to return to Kinshasa 6 years long. This all while he just signed a contract with Primus, started o have big crowd concerts and the support of shegues and gangs of Kinshasa. From that moment all those talented musicians started leave one by one. Which killed Academia. If he hadn’t those problems then he could turned in one of the 4th generation leaders (next to Werra, Adolphe & JB). He had just to accept Koffi’s offer to rejoin QL like Modogo & Mboshi. It could have gived his carreer another boost.

December 2002, the clips came in early 2003. They made two version one of Sam with Modogo and the other one with Modogo and the musicians of Kinshasa.

EL Paris didn't have problems with ngulu's. They were living in Europe and in 2003 it disbanded, because they didn't want Marie Paul anymore with them leaving one by leaving and them all ending up by joing Viva Tendence which was new band in Paris formed by Papa Wemba. Then Marie Paul started to lose his head and on one point become a brother in christ and preaching people, attacking strange sleeping in metro's and restaurants (some said that he was very addicted to drugs heroine or cocaine something like that) until Zacharie Bababaswe brought him to Kinshasa. With him restarting EL Paris in Kinshasa giving some memorable shows at YMCA, GHK and Masina but quickly losing it again.

Tonya Tonya was about to be the first band to perform in Europe after the ngulu-affaire and had already the visa's in their pocket. But on the last minute they refused to let them travel to Europe. With Adolphe being forced to perform at LSC with the former members of Wenge Tonya Tonya and him like Nyoka Longo & JB accusing Koffi. Mbuta Kis Kisolokele attacked Koffi in the Heures de Pointes vol. 3-VHS (I hope that someone will upload that one video one day)

Wenge Maison Mere was also effected because that incident which happened in 2002 with Belgium refusing to give them visa's 2 years which made them not enter the Schengen Area. I remember that they had to record Alerte Generale in Europe and give some concerts in Europe somewhere in sept '04, but Belgium still refusing. With then polictians, Dario Kindongo, etc. entering which made them finally get visa's for that double LSC-show for christmas.
