Why I have never heard G7 being praised like the other groups? They are so good

Seems like brazza had quite a few underground groups like that in the late 90s. I only know of G7/Impression Des As and Patrouille des Stars but I know theres more.

If the YouTube views on their generiques are an indication, they must have some praise to their name. It's just that compared to Extra or maybe even Patrouille des Stars, their success was only limited to Congo-Brazza back in their peak. But I'd say that G7 Impression des As was part of a big 3 of Congo-Brazza bands, right up there with the aforementioned bands.

Their succes wasn't limited to Congo Brazza. Patrouilles des Stars and G7/Impression des As were often getting contracts for countries like Guinee, Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Niger and Cameroun. G7/Impression des As were managed by Kiki Toure, so it was for them easy to get contracts and they were well promoted on the radio. People were dancing on their tracks, but they didn' t often know what band it was. In 2003 G7/Impression des As was nominated in the category best African group at the Kora Awards. Back in 2003, Youssou Ndour decided to take Patrouilles des Stars under his wings and they settled in Dakar for 5 years. The problems with those bands is that they don't get supported by people coming from Congo Brazza or their diaspora, people coming from Congo Brazza aren't really into music like those of Congo Kinshasa. Most donors prefer to invest their money in other things then music.

I think you misunderstood me. With saying that people coming from Congo Brazza not being reall into music like Congo Kinshasa, I meant the public. Not the musicians. With me saying that bands not getting really supported by people from Congo Brazza and their diaspora, I meant the donors, politicians and mabanga-customers. Everbody knows that, don't you see Roga Roga, Kevin Mbouande, etc. always keeping complaining on the tv about it, saying that their compatriots aren't taking them serious adding also that their press have to stop promoting music coming from Congo Kinshasa. Recently Abilissi said that despite the succes they had in Africa 1995-2001, they didn't had alot of support of their people. Back in the 90s people of Congo Kinshasa living in Europe were supporting their musicians for 1000% by buying/stealing expensive cars, clohtes, etc. for them and giving alot of money. The most influent people were "Bana Londres". In the same era they were bringing random bands to Europe. In the hope that they would breaking through like Wenge Musica, but the bands always ended up by staying in Europe. It started to become like a competition, people coming from N'djili doing their best to bring a band of their area here, those of Matadi doing their best to get a band of their city, those of Matonge doing the same, etc.
