That was on the last day of the 6 days festival at Stade des Martyrs that Papa Wemba made for his 50th birthday. He invited Delta Force, Maray Maray, Bozi Boziana, Wenge El Paris, Pepe Felly Manuaku, Oncle Bapius and Meridjo for those days. Reddy Amisi also participated.

1999 Was a very big year for Papa Wemba in my opinion with the Zenith show, Fula Ngenge and Le Quatro.

With channels like 2DF of Germany and RTBF or France 2 (I don't remember) having made documentaries about him. The only dark page of 1999, is the way RealWorld broke their contract with Papa Wemba.

They wanted to make of Papa Wemba the biggest star of Africa, but he was still not respecting those litting things. For example in 1998 they agreed that they wouldn't put Wemba's face on albumcovers of his albums with Viva, Nouvelle Ecriture and his solo albums, but then Modogo made the mistake to put his face on the albumcover of Mwana Matebu. On the other side Papa Wemba didn't want to lose his community who found his music strange. So they found it better to stop the contract while he was on the way to do big things. I remember seeing an interview in 2000/01, saying that he had regrets about it and he would make on comeback which never happened. Bakala Dia Kuba had to be that album, saying then that he was dreaming about receiving an "real" gold record in France after receiving one in the USA with Emotion. But he was a little bit scared, having then also Bercy on the way, so he decided to mix it with rumba and ndombolo (Omestatone, Mere Premiere, Fondation Mundele, etc.). With then Zacharie Bababaswe after Bercy claiming that Werrason & Koffi Olomide are better than him, because their Bercy's were sold out lol and the most people of the Congolese community agreeing with that smmh. Like a concert at Bercy could determinate someones whole career. Ask someone outside from Germany, U.K. or Italy if they know Bercy and they will say no.

So that's why I never seen his face on album covers starting from Extra L, Fula Ngenge, A La Une.

Wemba was on the albumcover of 'L. You will see him on middle above Coco and Mimi Tchivundu.

That rule came after they released Molokai (1998), which came out in the same period.

He played at the Forest National in Brussels that year as well, which is quite rare for Congolese artists.
