The famous concert in Germany where all ex'Quartier Latin were talking about in interviews. Lebou Kabuya disrespecting Rigo Star by not wanting to give him the lead-guitare which made him to play lead. The concert used to be on the youtube-channel of Pan African Music. I never understood why it got deleted. I remember that it the video was titled as "Bonne Annee '99", so means it that Droit de Veto was released early 1999 ? But I saw also a concert of Koffi Olomide in Brussels at Concert Noble on Cyprien Wetchi (I can't find the video) with Koffi Olomide wishing people happy new year(making then the mistake that he wants to hurt more people in 1999, but correcting it quickly lol) and Youyou Tchivundu and Zina Bilaho still being there.

Babia Ndonga already left here, hanging then around in Paris with his friends of Ndjili. Zina Bilaho, Rossette Kamono & Youyou Tshivundu also already left (They and Nono were wondering then how their lives would be after the tour, being scared to be fired because of all those tensions in the band).

No, btw this is the after Zenith 1998. He participated to all concerts of the Europe-tour 1998-99, except Olympia. The first musician to leave was Babia Ndonga, then Pathy Bass left and then Bouro Mpela. Lebou Kabuya & Somono decided to stay when the tour was finished. Sam Tshintu & Modogo made the mistake to follow Therese Landu Bayaka and other girls while Koffi sent them, so they were forced to go back to Africa (Zimbabwe & Tanzania).

This concert was a mess..... No one wanted to be there.

Koffi was scared when he heard that some musicians wanted form a new band, at that moment Babia Ndonga, Bouro Mpela & Pathy Bass already left and that Sam Tshintu & Modogo also wanted to stay. So he decided to put his money to get them back to Africa by using girls as weapon. Babia Ndonga was spotted by Teka Diamona at Chateaux Rouge who then called immediatly Koffi and Koffi sended those Zulu-gangsters who kipnapped him and brought him to the airport. With Koffi letting him travel with Mamale's passeport, explaining to the police that he couldn't stay in France because of him being a drug addict lol. In meantime he tried to convince Bouro's dad to let Bouro Mpela return to Kinshasa, Bouro accepted, already prepared his luggage and was ready to go back, but then on the last minute Dolce Somono made change his mind. Then Koffi sent Landu Bayaka and her friends to seduce Sam & Modogo to have some fun and they went to a restaurant at Chateaux Rouge and boom they saw Koff there They couldn't ran away anymore and were forced to return with him hahahahahaha. Almost the whole band went back to Africa (except Lebou, Somono & Bouro) along with new-member JF Ifonge and they performed then in Zimbabwe and Tanzania. Then when they were about to return to Kinshasa for their concert at Stade des Martyrs, Sam Tshintu & Modogo succeed by returning to Paris, by asking to Kayembe Chez Ntemba (who didn't know about their plans) their passeports and Somono in Paris having bought those tickets. That's why they called it Operation Renard when they formed Academia.

Knowing Koffi's character, they said that Mboshi would join them (which was wasn't true) and it made Koffi furious. Who from then decided to ignore Mboshi and humilating him during rehearsals by CNN letting doing his animations. So Mboshi decided to leave, then Koffi discovered that it was fack, but it was already to late. He tried to convince Mboshi to comeback, but he didn't want to accept the offer and only perform at Grand Hotel. After that Jhymmhy Mukelenge (who used to be Academia's manager before signing with Secteur A) helped him by going back to Paris where he joined Academia, which was wasn't easy (Koffi trying to block him in Kinshasa  trought his connections).

Haha that 98 tour sounds like a movie. Man I wonder how Babia's life and career would've been like if he joined academia, no wonder why koffi didn't take him for bercy but I thought it was Babia that informed koffi of academia happening. I'd have loved to have seen sam and modogo's face when they saw koffi at the restaurant hahahahaha

Yeah, he was the first one to inform Koffi and that was a long time before all those problems. It was before Zenith, but Koffi wasn't taking him serious. Babia didn't have plans to join Academia. But he left come to concerts anymore, just to spent times with his new girlfriend (who promised to marry) and his "friends' of N'djili in Paris. Back in 1994 he also left just because a girl, but he decided then to rejoin Quartier Latin after that he was beaten by guys, because that woman was married.

Koffi didn't take him to Bercy, because he started to behave strange because of his drugs-addiction. So he prefered to take Eric Tutsi and Musthapha who were then giving the 100% in rehearsals. After the creation of Academia, Koffi bought all those QL-members who participated to that tour cars, but Babia started then to sell parts of his car one by one just to buy drugs.

i think i have never seen koffi shout out his musicians as much as in this concert,maybe he sensed something without knowing how hard it would be?

I think the whole academia situation  made koffi suspicious & paranoid. It’s look like he would get rid off all the old heads & make a new ql.
In this concert I also remark that he shout out a lot the members, look like he saw that coming.

It's a little bit complicated. Alot weren't liking the way Koffi was praising and prefering Depitcho above them, but he wasn't really the main reason that Academia was formed. Everybody had his own reason to leave Quartier Latin. Btw there was a plan to form Academia in Burkina Faso when they were on tour in Africa to promote Loi, but they changed their mind because of the climate lol. Guys like Lebou, Somono & Suzuki (who was left behind in Kenya) had personal problems with Koffi. Pathy Bass was not liking the way Koffi was prefering Binda Bass about him, then also his fight with Nseka which made him not returning to Kinshasa and moving to Amsterdam while his family in Matonge & his girlfriend were waiting for him. Sam Tshintu hadn't the intention to leave, because he was happy with his role as Chef d'Orchestre, but changed his mind when he caught Depitcho & Koffi talking about how firing him with shortly after that his family in Binza calling him that they were seeing new musicians rehearsing at Maman Amy's house and his wife also being pregnant. So he decided to stay in Paris, but the trap made him being forced to return to Africa before rejoining Academia. Bouro Mpela wasn't happy the way Koffi wasn't praising him like in past and the way in his opinion Koffi was prefering Depitcho above him, that's why he decided to leave and live with his parents in Antwerp. Koffi tried to short the problems out with his dad and Bouro also accepted, but then changed his mind on the last minute. After that he talked in Kinshasa about that with Alain Mpela. Modogo left also because of those rumors of musicians being recruited and also the payment, because they started to get alot of reponsibilities. The rest (Do Akongo, Popolipo, Mamale, etc) wanted also to leave because of their reponsibilities growing, the payment (having spent all the money) and being also pissed off the way Koffi cancelled the USA/Canada-tour on the last minute (thinking that they would get the last money from their). But they changed their mind because not believing in the Academia-project and not wanting to do those little jobs in Europe.

I'm wondering if Koffi would fill Stade des Martyrs if the whole squad of Olympia was around. Because guys like Sam Tshintu & Lebou Kabuya had fanclubs and were presenting their area/quarter and the interview Academia made with Zacharie Bababaswe made alot of people in Kinshasa have sympathy for them and turning their back to Koffi (who already created alot of controversy by dissing Nyoka Longo & Papa Wemba in interviews after the succes of Zenith & Olympia) with big journalists starting to write articles against him which made him the most hated musician of Kinshasa.

How much were the members of Quartier Latin getting paid in those days? What other responsibilties did Modogo, Akongo, Popolipo, Mamale and others want that Koffi was not giving them?

Koffi never had respect for his instrumentalist. How could Binda Bass last so long with the band when you had Pathy Bass, Clovis Silawuka, Rocky Blandchard, and Montigia Tunga at your side?

He did the same thing to Mbetenge Domingo. He created the partitions to Danger de Mort, but why was he left behind in Kinshasa during the recording process in Europe? As much as I respect Felly Tyson, he interpreted those parts lazily on Mondoungou and Martens.
