I heard that he isn't able to play guitar anymore. Is that true ?

Nene Tchakou is a famous lead guitar player. He used to play in Karawa Musica and was very known in Kinshasa when he joined Langa Langa Stars-orchestra. He made his name bigger in Africa and Europe during the Soukous-virus playing then with various artists.

I remember hearing he had a debilitating stroke some years back. He’s living in France in destitute conditions. Reminds me of Shiko Mawatu, who also lost the ability to play instruments after a stroke 10 years ago

He’s a legend and arguably the most skilled on distortion guitar back in the 90’s
