I have come to the position that Ferre Gola has a better team than Fally Ipupa and the music Ferre is producing recently is far better. The problem with Fally Ipupa is that he has transformed his Congolese music to Afro-pop as a priority. This is hurting his career since the die-hard Congolese music fans are not interested anymore. The last show he did in Zambia, Lusaka was probably my last in principle that he changes the tactic.

Y'all wait and see . koffi will  regain his success again little by little we will be forgetting  about this punk. Jb is so smart  he  backed off ... I remember at one of the African Music Forums there was one guy, forgotten his USERNAME, he once said this KO-KO-KO-KO-KO-KO-KO Song is the beginning of the Wanabe Fally Afropop star. We all buried our Heads in the sand.

Ah Fally. It's good that this review is coming from someone as neutral as @Matebu. I have always said it's one thing to do one or two cross over songs (so called world music) in a rumba album but it's another thing for someone who gained fame for a certain genre to completely abandon it for another. From where am standing, it seems to me that Fally was not interested in releasing a rumba album after Tokoos he was basically forced by the hard core fans that's why he did that Control album but still goes on promoting songs from Tokoos album whenever on tour. So I guess people gotta get used. Sad to read such reviews from someone widely regarded as one of the leaders of his generation. The only thing going for him now is that his direct competitors are not in a position to tour places such as Europe so he has an edge.

Yeah, it’s just unfortunate. I’m at the point where I just want to listen to good music doesn’t matter who. Not going to waste my time trying to like what I perceive as bad music

Fally is just waaayyy too full of himself - I felt it’s gotten worsewhen I briefly met him. I think to a degree higher that Koffi or Wemba, because they had to really prove themselves. Not saying Fally hasn’t, but he’s definitely didn’t go through the hurdles they went through

Of course, we all know this, but the affirmation in real life just leaves a bad  and lasting impression. I still remember meeting him for the very first time in 2001 during Koffi’s US tour in NYC. He was a quiet shy guy then.

I think it's his more high-profile, international status that has made him complacent.

Highly doubt that was Mpondolo as he was not a diehard QL fan. I’d put my money on Haha Le Prof.

As for the show, I was going to sell drugs to attend the DC show because my wife wouldn’t let me put it in the budget. Glad I didn’t bother especially if he’s still promoting Tokoss, that album was garbage. He must’ve thought that R. Kelly feature was going to get him further exposure but Kellz career was beginning to wane at the start of the MeToo movement in America and then the Lifetime documentary and subsequent arrest by the CPD and then Feds, Fally should let that era go and disassociate himself. Kings get knocked off the throne and younger guys like Fabregas are waiting.
