Sanction had good quality but I disagree that it's up there with Affiare detat. Attentat might even have better quality than Sanction

Very true that it has powerful sound. You might be spot on with the mixing needing to be refined somewhat because thats where things kinda sound muffled to me. I might have to give sanction another listen though to see what you mean with the acoustics.

I also wonder if affaire d'etat would've sounded different it was released in 2002 like it was originally supposed to be.

Just the same, but without the 4-kora/tshibwabwa-animation. They had already finished recording the album in October 2002 and could have released it in december 2002 like it was planned. But because of Koffi winning 4 trophees at the Kora Awards in November 2002, they postponed the release of the album. So they added the 4-kora/tshibwabwa-animation in all sebenes and the two generics, added also some mabanga's and went to correct vocals until January 2003. Affaire d'Etat ended up by getting released in March 2003.

I always wonder what JB Mpiana was thinking about the tshibwabwa animation in Affaire d'Etat and the cri of Acide in Monde Arabe which was "pesa nga kombo, yo mopao mfumu ya ba hero, pesa nga trophee nayo" just to mock the way JB wasn't able to get Kora's and trying to find a way to get it.

Maybe it could have also been the same like the 2004-version, because they were preparing it with the same squad. It only depends of the atalaku-squand because they then like 5 atalaku's (Brigade, CNN, Acide, Apocalyps and Washington), not even counting the reserve-atalakus.

When it comes to acoustics, Piwawa and Code Pin are the best sounding génériques all-time, imo. You hear every instrument crystal clear and perfectly tuned. Sometimes I forget Koffi had a 20 year run of great albums

yeah that the rhythm-guitar. The Mi-Solo guitar, is the guitar thats played between the rhythm-guitar and lead-guitar.

the sebene from 4:10 min is a good example. You will hear 3 guitars (rhythm, mi-solo and lead) if have you headphones on.

When listening to a song with 3 guitars, you need to listen closely in case you want to tell the difference between the mi-solo and rhythm guitars.

BOP Recording Studios (South Africa), Studio Davout (France) and Studio Harryson (France).





A big part of the recording was done at the BOP Recording Studios in South Africa. But Koffi decided to correct the rumba's in Paris by adding Philiphe Guez's touch in those songs (Boda Bodack, Sans Anetshesie, Non Assistance and Tchernobyl). Because all songs they record in South Africa were recorded live. Philiphe Guez also added his touch in Cameleon & Kamutshima. Koffi Olomide changed the Number One-song in Paris by singing lead while Eric Tutsi did the lead in the original version recorded in South Africa.

Then songs urban songs African Kings featering French-Congolese rapper Passi and Si Si Si with Senegalese singer Goumba Gawlo were recorded in Paris. The song Chocolat was already recorded in 1997 it was meant for the Loi-album, the female-chorus was arranged by Lokua Kanza who then also arranged the chorus of Iteneraire from the Loi-album, having the girls Sylvie, Julia Sarr and Anne Papiri singing on it. 

Can't forget Pierrette Adams of Brazzaville and King Kester.

Fofo le Collegien played on Monde Arabe but wasn't credited like Ramazani & Lebou Kabuya who also participated.

I think Calvaire, Danao & Inch'Allah. I don't listen often to Affaire d'Etat. Danao is along with Anissa my favorite sebene. I didn't really like the sebenes and animations of Affaire d'Etat.

they danced koyimbi-ko also in the Affaire d'Etat-clips but without the koyimbi-ko animation.

The Koyimbi-Ko dance was huge in Africa, but other groups avoided incorperating the dance into their animation because there wasn't the same solidarity between our artist like before. Congolese artist were giving each other a hard time about stealing "their" animation, just look at the way Bill Clinton of Masion Mere feud with Bebe Kerozene, Gessac, and later Bercy Mwana as an example. ADE would have benefited greatly if Koffi let his atalakus use those cries in conjuction with the dance (6:50-8:25 minutes of video below)
