I was really shocked to read that. Monde Arabe & Danger de Mort also didn’t sell well and Somina getting money problems because of distributing those albums and him suing Koffi at some point, because of releasing the Swi-Ep while he just  brought the Danger de Mort-album on the market.

Yeah, don't you remember the botched promotion of the album as well by David Monsoh and a few of his then staff? The US market didn't get their albums until long after the release. The DVD also suffered from bad promotion.

Even Koffi himself didn't seem too enthusiastic about the album because his focus was already on Monde Arabe before the release of ADE

I knew that there were some problems with David Monsoh and Next Music. But I didn't knew that there was a huge problem with the distribution. Maybe it was because of the financial difficulties of Next Music. The same year David Monsoh just created his own musiclabel Obouo Music and started promoting Coupe Decale legend Douk Saga (RIP) and stayed still Koffi's garcon de courses until 2005 when those problems came with the Ivorian press about Koffi giving a shoutout to Guillaume Soro as G.S. in Riziki who was then a rebel and Koffi saying that it was because of David Monsoh which didn't please David and created problems for him in Ivory Coast.

To this day I never understood him releasing that EP while people were still listening to Danger De Mort. I understood him trying to bounce back after the QL defections but he neglected some really good talent after the 5th generation guys left for solo careers.

That was because his sponsor Bracongo forced him to release a single for their product Skol to fight against the singles who would be released for their concurrent Bralima (Primus) in December. Back the days Bralima & Bracongo had a huge influence on artists many Europe-tour of 2005-2010 were interrupted because of them wanting to have their artists in Kinshasa to promote their products during the summer (FIKIN, open-air concerts in strategic areas like Bandalungwa, Lemba, Kasa Vubu & Masina, national tours, etc.) and sometimes even in December. Alot of album-releases were alsodelayed because of them wanting to have the single for their product on the market first. Quartier Latin's album Danger de Mort for example was meant to be released in December 2005 but Bracongo wanted to see their single for Skol first on the market. Bracongo was in 2006 almost about to cut their contract with Koffi, because he was spending to much time in Europe in their opinion while Werrason was "stealing" their market in Kinshasa by performing in almost every area in Kinshasa for Primus (Bralima).

Wow so Danger De Mort was supposed to be released in 2005? That's news to me! Were they already done with the recordings by then? I know Brigade recorded some stuff, but Mboshi replaced his animations after being suspended. It wouldve been interesting to see how different it could've sounded.

Yeah it was meant for 2005. Everything was already recorded and finished in Kinshasa at Studio Ndiaye with sound-ingenieur J.P. Kyss. They had just to add mabanga in Europe and do the mixing. The only thing that they changed was the sebene of Marents (which was re-recorded in Paris).

Brigade was left behind in Kinshasa and when Koffi heard that he joined Maison Mere some months later he decided erase of animations and letting replace them by those of Mboshi. Asso Ngole who was also left behind in Kinshasa saw his vocals being replaced those of Modogo Ambarambwa. The vocals of Mirage Supersonic were replaced by those of Bouro Mpela.

Interesting. I thought he was already gone from QL by the time they recorded DDM.

Bouro Mpela already left in 2004, but he came back in 2006 for just 6 months, Koffi needed him (I guess that he knew that Fally would leave very soon). Koffi presented him at Elysee Montmarte.

I think because of the succes Skol Longitima in Europe and the Kisanola Le Peigne-dvd who were a huge succes in Europe. Most cries Brigade made in 2005 were also the main cries of Danger de Mort.
