very very very bad. That's why kuluna is very strong these days and prostitution very high. You have families accepting their daughters doing that, because of not having a choice. The bad job situation started already since early late 70s and it became worser in the 80s. That's why from 1980s a lot of youngsters wanted to go Europe when Wemba inspired them with that Sape and Nyekesse-Mputu stuff and for the same reasons alot wanted to go from the late 80s/early 90s to the Lunda-province of Angola to get rich with those diamonds (like Papito Mbala, Tchatcho Mbala, Jeannpy Pipina, Didi Kinuani, Claude Maluma, etc.) with the risk to walk on a land mine, being killed by UNITA or Angolese army (or be recruited by them) or if you were a woman being raped. King Kester Emeneya and JB Mpiana sung songs about that (Basali Nteke and Bana Lunda). Alot came back to Kinshasa in the late ' 90s, some having lost their legs.

I have 9 familymembers who have all masters since 15 years, but aren't able to get a job. Its almost impossible to get a job in Kinshasa. If you want to get a job, then you must have a family-member who could connect you to some companies, being part of the small elite or becoming part of a sect. For all these reasons Congolese people want to live abroad. Now you have Congolese everywhere, even in countries who wouldn't imagine. Back in the early 70s, you hadn't alot of Congolese people abroad because life was very good and almost everybody had a job. Nobody was then dreaming about living in Europe. Those who were making some short trips to Europe, wanted always to return immediately. Those who were then living in Europe were students or diplomats, the rest who were living there at that time were seen as people who messed their life up.
