He says if people do not know your song then its a flop and went on the usual talk of ex musicians being ungrateful and that some want to prove him a point but if a rich parent has a song who is becoming rich and who thinks he can challenge his father its not a good sign

the first day they went without preparing on every possible field,and zaiko came very well organized and with nioka longo making a unexpected entrance barefeet with an umbrella and he thinks they could not exist in front of zaiko that day and when concert was over he went to jb and jb and the other guys were worried that they failed a golden occasion to make a big statement,and he told them" relax i have a plan" and he  called kongolo mobutu saddam to ask for army outfits and a tank to make a crazy entrance and saddam accept and they were given the tank but the day of second concert a mysterious and very long rain(14 hours almost) made it impossible to perform and he said zaiko had too strong kindoki in those days

In Werra's defense, those of his former musicians who have tried to be cordial with him have always been treated kindly in reverse. Lately we've seen him go out of his way to accommodate his former musicians like Bill, Celeo, Baby Ndombe, Deplick, Fabro while Kapaya has always been the reference point/benchmark for Werra's soloist and he doesn't hide his open admiration for the man.

But there are also those who've decided to hold on to the "wrongs" that were committed to them by Maison Mere.

Do you mean between Zaiko and Wenge or other battles in general? I don't know much for Zaiko cs Wenfe but after the split there was a massive battle of Wenge Musica vs BCBG where concerts lasted even more the 15 hours and with parents super mad with musicians because the teen boys and girls should have gone to school but they were staying in for the concerts. If I am not mistaken this beef even caused fights between Kulunas and Policeman. In this period it was even the battle of the cars where Bill, Genta (and sometmes even Gessac) were making interviews with a new car every week to show supremacy when they actually stolen the car lol. In fact Wazekwa got mad when Gessac wanted to get involved in this game by saying that if he wanted those Ferrari amd Lamborghini he should have just saved money.
Back in the days it was all about performance and endurance. You always had to show that you were the leader with the most paid musicians and the most resisten musicians. Nowadays people do not care anymore

Yes, I meant between Wenge & Zaiko. I can't imagine Wenge just accepting to take defeat like that with all the ego in that group.


There was also this one between Werra and Koffi. What exactly was it about and how did it end
It's rare to see Werra being so direct in confrontation with other rivals because he prefers to use his henchmen to do the dirty job

the fara-fara of Zaiko vs Wenge in 1993 was a concert jumeler, that's performing on the stage which is very different compared to Koffi vs Werra, Werra vs JB who were events of stages being some meters in front of each other. Back in the 90s, 80s and 70s, you used to have alot of concert-jumuler, which they were often organised to see which band was the best. Sometimes bands had to interpret at least 2 songs together on the same stage, which Wenge did with Zaiko, during the fara-fara of 1993



The most famous battles were those of Papa Wemba against King Kester Emeneya in 80s who were creating alot of polemic and publicity, those events also killed many careers. For example for Evoloko & Yoka Lokole in 1977, after losing against Papa Wemba, Nouvelle Generation in 1994. After the split of Wenge 4x4, those events became very rare, because alot of bandleaders were nkisi. King Kester Emeneya critized those clan Wenge leaders, Ferre and Fally for in a interview he made with Francis Kakonde in 2008. One of the last events were Wenge BCBG against Nouvelle Ecriture in London, back in 1998. Werrason and JB Mpiana had to perform against each other at Stade des Martyrs, back in 2007, but it got cancelled. The same for the event Koffi against Werrason at Elysee Montmarte, in the same year, because of Werra's staff fearing that Koffi would use nkisi against Werra to finish his career.



Wenge 4x4 had not alot of those battles compared to the 3eme generation bands (Empire Bakuba, Zaiko, Victoria Eleison, Viva La Musica, etc.). They had one in 1996 at Aquaboulevard with Papa Wemba, but the concert got interrupted by the Zoulou-gang of Paris, when Viva La Musica was about to start his part (back in the days alot of Wemba-concerts got cancelled in Paris, because of those attacks from the Zoulous). The event got famous, because of the words Wemba said when he was on stage with Wenge 4x4, which was in many peoples eyes, the reason of Wenge's split.



Back in 1990, Emeneya was very down and his sponsor Bralima (Primus) started even to doubt about him. So Bralima forced him to perform against Wenge 4x4 in all 24 area's of Kinshasa, which was seen as a humilation, but he accepted the contract, because he hadn't alot of money. The events, brought his succes back and Wenge 4x4 were humilated in almost every area (back in the days they hadn't a big fanbase outside Bandalungwa). Emeneya often liked to talk about that back in the years 1998-2001 when the JB-Werra rivalery was hot, to minimize them because journalists started to annoy him with the questions about them. Those events of 1990, made him get the nickname "Ah Ya Mokolo, Oleki Bango...", which means "Oh Big bro, yo are better then them (Wenge)". I remember that one of the events was at Kigansani or Masina, with the public throwing stones when Wenge 4x4 was about to perform and at Matonge, Kester went away with all the public after performing when Wenge 4x4 was about to perform (they became big headed them and didn't want to perform before him, so Kester Emeneya teached them a lesson to sing the refrain of Mulolo as last song).
