It made alot of musicians leave, because they saw that it was just about the big 4, later also the way Ferre joined Quartier Latin  which made Werrason unhappy followed with the FIKIN-affair of JB vs Werra when they shot people. So it made  it a kind of a tribal war (those coming from the Bandundu-province siding with Emeneya & Werrason) against the rest.

Then the moment when Koffi suddenly decided to leave Maïsha Parc in 2007 and started to get all keymembers of Wazekwa’s and the beef getting restarted with Hono Kapanga almost dying.

Maïsha Parc was made to get all musicians behind Joseph Kabila for his election-campaign of 2006, because he wasn’t popular in Kinshasa and needed help from them. Joseph Kabila promised that he would fix the problems of the Soneca (getting royalties, not more being forced to sell songs to donors, do mabanga, long Europe tours to survive), build modern studio’s in Kinshasa (to not be depended from Europe anymore),etc. in the case that he would be elected as president. But Koffi, Papa Wemba, JB Mpiana & Werrason, messed it up for everybody from day 1 by doing matolo to the president. Joseph saw then that they weren’t serious, gave them 15.000 to share , dropping those projects he had.

JB, Werra, Koffi, Wemba, Adolphe & Wazekwa saw Maïsha Parc as a project to block their former employees, feeling already that their time would end in the coming years. Making rules like that had not to recruit musicians of each others band, in order to let them suffer until that they would rejoin.

Was it members of Cultura that were responsible for Hono Kapanga almost getting killed or angry fans that attacked him for betraying Wazewka? I don't think Felix Wazekwa would stoop low enough to exact vengeance against defectors, even though he was "justified".

Did you think it was a bad idea for them to join Koffi at the time or did you think their careers could go further in QL? Had they waited a few months, they could have finished Que Demande le Peuple as a group album and gotten to Olympia.

But then again, their departure created the animation of "mutu ya liboma aliaka na fulu".

Would Kabila honor those plans had the musicians been serious? And would that make Congolese music stronger by blocking the ability for artist to move from band to band? If you're frustrated in your current group, wouldn't not give your best out of spite? That could hurt the craft overall...

No, but about building modern studios, maybe yes. Because African presidents use always the music-industry for their propaganda. Mobutu used to invest often in music and culture for his image. He build Palais du Peupe, which was meant for concerts, comedy-shows, weddings, conferences, until that LD Kabila made it from 1997 the parliament with from 2003, no concerts, comedy-shows, etc. being allowed there.

I don't think so. Its a tactic to kill careers of young talented artists and made those bandleaders proud, saying "you see without me they are nothing, I'm the person who made their careers", acting like they teached them playing guitar or sing.

They wouldn't have played at Olympia if they stayed in Cultura. Felix Wazekwa planned his event at Olympia to prove Koffi and his former musicians a point that he was able to perform at Olympia, because they were mocking about that. Wazekwa's concert was like 1 or 2 years after the release of Que Demande le Peupe.

It was a bad and good move of Joss & Gessac. Because they managed to perform at Zenith and Gessac made succes in Ivory Coast with his cri "c'est le moment" having a featering with that journalist who used to work for Radio Nostalgie. When Joss Diena, Gessac and Hono Kapanga formed their own band after the departure from QL, they had a good start. I don't think that they would have the same start if they left directly from Wazekwa's band.

Wazekwa himself said in several interviews that it was his guard who did that, but he didn't send them. The incident made alot of people hate Wazekwa and seeing him as animal. Look the way he entered Jo K's show just to counter Joss Diena and Jo K with his daugther getting scared the way Wazekwa's guard were threaten people to get in.

haha that day i was in kin we did everything to  stop ya felix but he wanted to hear nothing, few days after he went to montfleury jb tried everything to calm him down and he said no since koffi is sending his own musicians  to attack him they'll deal with it like men face to face,that day koffi was with gege fula mambu,marie paul i think and another artist and when koffi heard he went to hide,shakakongo who saw the scene as he was on his way to koffi for babia's case saw and called wazola nzimbu verckys to say it is getting serious they have to do something
few days after wazekwa went again dressed like a karateka  but koffi was gone on tour (i remember depitcho and mariepaul even laughed about that scene inone of the old polemic videos)
i explained in the past it was an ex cultura guard who wanted to redeem himself after flirting with koffi's offer who did that and hono took his shirt to village and shortly after the guy went more and more crazy  until he died ,hono is the son of one of the bandundu traditional chiefs
and wazekwa refused to take care of him its the guy's family who sent him to angola for treatment but it was too late hono played no game
