I remember when I first heard Karmapa's first and second album playing in my dad's car. We was on a 2 hour journey to my sister's uni.

I remember first hearing him and thinking why does he sound/imitate koffi. But i was in love with the songs and text.

I was like 19-21. I'm 27 now and I'm just recapping on Le Temps de L'amour.

Man those rumbas, this album is better than his first and it's a strong album. I'm currently analysing the album because I think it could be better than V12.

And V12 is a very strong album, I gave it 53.5/55 (97%)

So I'm currently listening to Karmapa to see what my verdict will be, but I think it might get a better score mark than V12.

Lool I've never had anyone make that kind of effect on me on a first time listen not knowing who the hell I'm listening to.

A 2 hour journey needs the right type of music So hearing him was refreshing, and the music was great. I even took the CD home to make a copy on my laptop. 

It was strange because ive heard of almost every artists but not Karmapa. That journey felt so good hearing both his first 2 albums in one go.

Now I'm trying to understand and study the times it first came out and what music was out at that time and what impact his albums had. When Karmapa had his first album, Koffi's QL released Affaire d'etat. I'm just trying to make sense of that era and how things went down because those albums (2003 and 2005) are the best.

Loool Its because i rate this album highly, thats why i want to compare it to one of the best albums. so I need to check to see if it is better. But i rate V12 extremely.

Ok it didn't beat V12. I gave the album 52/55. 95%

Any albums you think is better than V12? If we're talking about rumba albums.. albums you can put in the same bracket as V12.

Je m’Appelle Toi is better than Temps de l’Amour. On Temps de l’Amour there are a few songs that you skip.

You can’t say that V12 is a rumba-album yes there are classics like Aspirine, Fouta Djallon and Bambino, but the same album has Andrada, Etat Civil, Dossier du Jour and Chantou. I woul compare V12 to Foridoles.

This is an interesting take because to me Je m'appelle toi was his Magnum Opus. When it comes to pure rhumba albums, to me, Je m'appelle toi is better than everything that came after it, including Monde Arabe, Droit Chemin, Sens INterdit, etc.

I'll take the week end to listen to Le temps de l'amour again. But I still doubt it's better than Je M'Appelle toi.
