Effrakata is the lingala-version of the french word Effraction. Which is like breaking in. Congolese people often use that word, when they suspect a woman or man of cheating and them with a whole gang of people breaking in the bedroom. Some would the open the door and screaming “Effrakata!!!!!!” and then beating the man and the man often lying “it wasn’t me I was hypnotized” (ezali nga te, eza envoutement), but nobody listening and just beating him. After that, if they would talk about the story to other people “to kangaki bango na Effrakata”. Koffi was first doubting about between the album-titles Panique Générale and Effrakata. But he ended up by preferring Effrakata, maybe because of 9/11 having already giving the album title Attentat for his previous solo-album.
Its difficult to translate Effrakata & Generation Bercy. It aren’t songs, but generiques having various animations in different languages a part in Lingala, a part in Kikongo, a part Kilari (a dialect of Kikongo spoken in Brazzaville) and a part in Zulu (Kerozene claims to have animated for a pakt in KI-Zulu).
