Musika-sika didn’t lie. When he used to perform with Lemba Musica, he used to sing a little bit like Dindo Yogo before singing in his natural voice. But that often the case with many singers before Mulolo, Werrason used to sing like Emeneya (sounding more like Mopero Wa Maloba), JB Mpiana used to imitate Debaba, the list is long.
Dindo Yogo had a big impact, back in the days you didn’t have to big a bandleader to have a big impact on people. Like Nyoka Longo, Evoloko, Wemba, Carlyto, Emeneya, Likinga and Bimi Ombale, Dindo Yogo has also a lot of copycats.
Dindo Yogo had succes back in the mid 70s with his band Macchi. His song dedicated to his son Lola Muana was a huge succes.
But, Dindo would quickly stop his musiccareer. In 1978, he would make a comeback a join Viva La Musica, forming a dangerous quartet with the singers Emeneya, Debaba & Esperant Kisangani. The impact of them would become bigger when coming back from the Europe-tour in 1980.
In 1981, Dindo Yogo would leave Viva La Musica along with Eseperant, Djanana, Emeneya, Huits Kilo and Patcho to form Langa Panga Stars with Evoloko, Bozi Boziana and Djo Mali, who left Zaïko on their turn. Emeneya, Huits Kilo & Patcho Star would return after some days. Dindo Yogo’s song Tantine Betena was Langa Langa Stars first hit.
Langa Langa Stars was Zaïre’s most popular band, but problems would start quickly, because of Evoloko’s egoïsm. Which led the starts leaving the band one by one, Esperant Kisangani being the first and later on Bozi Boziana forming Choc Stars along with Roxy Tshimpaka & Ben Nyamambo. Djo Mali & Djuna Djanana would join Choc Stars the next year. Which made Dindo Yogo being alone with Evoloko and the rest of the musicians. Dindo would also end up by leaving and join Zaïko Langa Langa, claiming that he would stay their until his death. Dindo Yogo had next to releasing songs also the freedom to release solo LP’s on his name. Dindo’s biggest hits in Zaïko Langa Langa were Mokili Echanger, Liwa yo Moyibi (dedicated to Lola Muana’s mother), Bolingo Etumbu, Fola (Aziza’s song), Linya (Zamuangana’s song), La Vie Heureuse and Il Ya Pas de Sot Metiers.

In 1988, when Zaïko Langa Langa split, Dindo Yogo became chef d’orchestre. In 1991, he was in conflict with Nyoka Longo about the royalties of his songs he released in Zaïko and also the bad-management of finance, wanting to get him fired as president and replace. The conflict ended up by Dindo Yogo leaving and starting his solo-career, forming his band Ngwaka Aye. But his solo-career was not a big succes. Dindo would travel a lot between Kinshasa & Paris and at some point doing also some session work. Helping artists like Alain Makaba, Awilo Longomba, Aimelia Lias, etc. In 2000 he sadly passed away.
