I hope to see the short documentary that M6 made about Koffi at Bercy back. Seeing this video back, made me think that what Serge Kayembe and JB Mpiana claimed about BCBG's Zenith's being showed at M6 being true, except the white people claiming to be fans of BCBG, while they didn't even know JB lol. The same way how Werrason used to pick every tour randomly white kids and claim that they were his fans and those kids looking like "why are we standing here".

It's still honestly a shame that Koffi didn't release the VHS of Zenith '98, because we can't even compare it to Wemba, Jb and Werra's first Zenith unless you were there yourself. Also the musicians especially Mamale and Depitcho that participated in that concert kep saying it the Zenith Concert was nothing special and that Olympia and Bercy were way better shows.

Weren't the producers behind Zenith angry that Koffi didn't release the official VHS? Since they probably didn't make enough money back and maybe lost a lot of money in the process

No, Junior Mac Kenro got all his money back because the concert was sold out. He just organised the concert, he had nothing to do with the images. He made double money, because it organised two concerts the same day at  Zenith de Paris. Because 2/3 hours before Koffi started the show, Haitian artist Tabou Combo performed with his band. Problems would occur if the concert would have been mpiaka. Its that the concertpromoter rent the hall and gives the artist already 50% of the money and the rest some days before the event and the money returning when the concert sold out or filled for 80%, it depens how much money he invest. Koffi was really happy that day and in the lockeroom they were already talking about Bercy and Koffi already announcing it to the public.

Mostly when Congolese bandleader sign with those concertpromoters they got 100% rights on their images and various producers like Joel Photo Mbetenge, Jimmy Mukelenge, Badive, Rigo Makengo, etc. knocking on the door and them selling it to the one big gives the biggest money, making more money and having also a percentage on the sales. Most VHS' of Koffi's biggest events in Africa in the 90s were produced by Sono. Koffi sold the video of Bercy to French diaspora-tv channel MCM Africa and Olympia that was organised by Kokar Masakuba to his own recordlabel Sono. Werra's Bercy was organised by monsieur Yann, but it was JPS who produced the tape. Double Zenith of Werra was organised by Felix Petit, but it was JPS produced the tape. There are multiple examples.  There are also exceptations for example JB's Bercy of 2001 and the three LSC of Sept 2000, Oct 2000, Nov 2000 were all organised by Badive and also produced on tape by himself, which made him like JB Mpiana more and vice-versa. That's why JB trusted him and gave him the responsibility to produce his album Anti Terro, but that went wrong, which made Badive side with Werrason.

The real question is, do those companies still have the footage? or does koffi have the full footage from zentih?

Those recordslabel don't have those footage. They only have the finished product. It's Theophile Badoana who may still have the videotape, since that he and his team filmed the concert, like the way he filmed Koffi's first olympia, second zenith and Wemba's first two zenith. But I don't believe that he will ever show those images, he's a businessman nowadays. But he can share them, like the way Ams Tresor shared the images that they cut out, from the VHS of Koffi's goodbye-concert at LSC of 2002.



I don't think that Koffi has still the full videotape of Zenith.  I remember once Zacharie Bababaswe interviewing him the week  after Olympia and the dancers who were staying at his house, watching to the videotape of Olympia and dancing to the sebene of Papito Charme, which didnt make it on the official VHS of Olympia.
