Bakayoko is a name that's very common in Ivory Coast like Traore, Toure and Kone. I think that you've also alot of Bakayoko, Kone, Toure and Traore's in Guinee, Mali and Burkina Faso.

Hamed Bakayoko himself used to be a journalist beside his politic activities. He worked for Radio Nostalgie and Nostalgie Afrique who both contributed alot to the promo of Congolese music in Ivory Coast. He used also to be head of Mayama Production that was often bringing Wenge BCBG (1998, 1997), Koffi Olomidé, Papa Wemba, Wenge Musica 4x4, Extra Musica, etc. to Abidjan.

Hence why he used to get alot shout-outs in Congolese songs of the 90s along  Yves Zogbo Junior, Idriss Diallo and Consty Eka of Cameroun. Koffi Olomide used to be his best friend from all Congolese artists. You will notice that in 90s before the civil war, Koffi was coming in Abidjan, often 2 months after releasing a new album and Mayama Production always producing it. From 1991 to 1998 he used to organize with journalist Junior Zogbo and Consty Eka the AfriCar Awards (Africa & Caraibes) who were at that time the biggest awards in Africa, bringing also stars like Naomie Campbell. After the civil-war in Ivory Coast he became the minister of Minister of New Information and Communication Technologies until 2011, from 2017 until 2021 he was the minister of Defense and mayor of Abobo on the same time. Last year he became Prime Minister of Ivory Coast, replacing Amadou Gon Coulibaly
who died from a heart-attack. It has been said that both guys were poisned by Ouattara. Last year there was alot contreversy around Hamed's name, after that Vice made a documentary about drugtrafficking in Western Africa, claiming that Hamed Bakayoko was the biggest drugtrafficker in Ivory Coast.

 what i can see happen in the worst case is one artist (you know who lol) allowed to come because of having build strong roots there but the rest having it complicated(or maybe his mentor too)

Why does Ivory Coast have issues with Congolese artists? They have been very instrumental to building fan bases all over the diaspora! Is it politics bleeding into the music industry or dishonest business practices between promoters and musicians

It's jealousy, the raise of nationalism and some hate due some incidents that occured. Back in the 90s Ndombolo was dominated whole Africa and then suddenly boycot movements popped out in Cameroun and Mali to claim that Ndombolo wasn't educative and to erotic. They even went far by trying to forbid it in both country, but it didn't work. In Ivory Coast the movements couldn't gain control, because the politicans themselves were big lovers of Congolese music and were owning radio-stations who were playing 80% Congolese music (Hamed Bakayoko for example who owned Radio Nostalgie). But I remember that in 2001, they tried to block JB Mpiana's concert and that he was blocked for hours at the airport, because of some influent people not wanting Congolese music anymore in Ivory Coast (or maybe they were just influenced by a jealous artist who  tried the same trick to Defao in 1998). The movement couldn't become stronger, because not long after that the civil war started in Ivory Coast and at the same time Coupe Decale came which dominated the continent until 2009/10. The problems returned in 2012 when Koffi came with that Selfie-event in Abidjan, where he suddenly stopped his show and all Ivorian people being, saying that he wasn't respecting his public, etc. and people and some movements saying that it was time to boycot foreign music (in reality Congolese music), because they weren't promoting their own artist well and Ivorian paying to much money to foreign artists to come perform in Abidjan. They tried from then to sabote concerts of Nigerian artists and Zouglou artists started to do diss them (there weren't Congolese artists coming anymore only Fally. Ferre & Wemba just coming to performed at the Fembua festival '14 & '16). Everythime Fally came from 2013 it created jealousy in Ivory Coast for the huge amount of money he was receiving. I remember many Ivorians being furious for the way he was crowned as a king back in 2017/18 and wearing their traditional cloths. Then when Koffi came in 2016, it was a huge mpiaka, because everybody was mobilized to boycott that concerts and even taxi's having posters of "Boycott Koffi". The incident that really threw the nail in the coffin was, for the way Fally managed to sell out Hotel Ivoire with 100.000 Franc CFA (which is like 200 dollars) and fill Stade de l'Universite, while they just out from the COVID-19 crize. Some Ivorian artists and comedians were mad about it and said that it was time to stop Congolese artists, that Congolese artists weren't on the level of Ivorian artists and that Congolese artists haven't the right to become rich on the back of the Ivorian population that suffers.

How should our musicians go about calming down tensions? Maybe we should collaborate more with their local artists or pay Mabanga as respect to their legends.

I think they came from paris,while others except jb are in kinshasa
i would not be surprised to see later a small delegation lead by nioka longo,but its normal that fally and koffi are the ones to be there,they have been the most consistent in showing their relationship with the late hambak
