I was thinking because back in the early 2000s we saw a trend start coming first with the crazy braids that I think QL introduced in late 2001 early 2002, which was followed by Maison Mere with their's for their double Zenith 2002 and also A la Que Leu Leu, where Werra had his Crazy hairstyles. Then after that trend died down in 2003, in 2005 the new trend became dread locs which I think was also introduced by QL, with nearly every band member in congo had that hairstyle for a couple of years which then eventually it just became normal hairstyles.
The reason I'm asking this is because I remember when Chikito Mutakatif was interviewed by Ado Yuhe, he revealed that he used to have braids and Jb forced him to cut it off and saying "That's QL look, we don't do that here". Junior revealed also that when he was getting tested Koffi forced someone who was having their test to cut off his locs, but then ended up not recruiting him hahahaha, and also that time Koffi cut off Somono's braids at a concert and forced him to have the bald look.

I'd say those hairstyles started a little earlier like in 2000. Champion had those red braids during Bercy, and Werrason and Bill Clinton started having those crazy hairstyles in 2000.

I always wondered why Somono had braids in one of those Ultimatum era concerts, and then all of a sudden hes bald in the Ultimatum clips and other concerts around that time. He looked cooler with those braids.

Later on Koffi tried to break them up, by sending girls to flirt with Somono during rehearshals to make Nono jealous. Later he ordered Somono to cut his hair. After a moment he went with Nono to Somono, and Koffi then taking the word, saying to Somono that Nono decided to break up with him, while Nono didn't even say that and Somono just accepting it.

He didn't left for that. There were several musicians before and after, who had the same problems like Somono of having relationship with a dancer, but not leaving. Somono left because he was abandoned in Kinshasa when Quartier Latin went to Olympia and Koffi not wanting him to come, while Binda Bass, Rosette Kamono and Modogo all got that favour to rejoin (Quartier Latin was stuck in Kenya, couldn't return to Kinshasa because the second war started and had to fly directly to Europe). Somono went to Europe on his own and wanted to restart his life with his girlfriend living in France (If I remember well, his wife died in Kinshasa the same year), but staffmembers convinced him to come back and participate to concerts of the tour and the recordings of Droit de Veto, which he also did. But they didn't knew that he would toxicate other bandmembers with his revoluntionary ideas, which already started in Kinshasa. During the tour he would sometimes be attacked by staffmembers or gangsters, who were furious after Koffi saying to them that he became big headed and started to disrespecting him (hence why his voice wasn't powerful  at Brixton Academy). Later you had those indicents in Germany, in the studio, etc. and later on he founded with Lebou Kabuya their band Academia getting joined a few weeks later joined by Sam & Modogo.

Nono left a few months when arriving in Kinshasa from the the Olympia-tour, not happy that Koffi was prefering Claude AC Milan above her and also fearing that she would later behind left behind in the next tour, knowing that Koffi doesn't like to have people around who remember him from the past. Which often to pire petits of Kaps Kapangala, Willy Bula, etc. who were chased away from Oshwe 5/5 after their departures, when wanting to watch the rehearshals and Koffi being mad. Nono also didn't want to create problems for her brother Ridens Makosso, who was playing guitar at that time in Quartier Latin, so she prefered to join Wenge BCBG. It ended up by Nono being right, Zina Bilaho, Beniko Popolipo, Babia Ndonga, Do Akongo and Ondoma Motema ended up by getting left behind in Kinshasa for Bercy, Mboshi getting humilated in rehearshals and left behind in for a trip to Cameroun, which made him quickly join Academia, Koffi in private thinking about leaving Savanet Depitcho, Champion Djikapela, Binda Bass and J.F. Ifonge behind, but changing quickly his mind.
