Lovely now we’ve got a good comparison here. Hmmmm tough choice but I might have to go with Sanction, simply because the sebene and Generique were much better than Titanic and but I must say Omba itself is better than all 3 of the Rhumbas in Sanction.

I will pick Titanic. I prefer the Wenge playing style with more of rumba and short non aggressive sebene in a song. Even though i have to admit Sanction is a very good album with my favourite chanson being Sort, Ingratitude and Speed Life (because of the Zambia shout out  ;D). I have been listening to the album more as a tribute to Lebou Kabuya...  Anyone noticed the similarity of the rhythm of Sort from sanction  as the changement de frequence happens at minute 1:45 minutes and Eternellement of Fally in Force de Frappe.

For me the other thing is this is a proper Wenge vs Quartier Latin debate because Titanic is a pure Wenge album without Werra, Adolphe, Masela. And Sanction is a pure QL album without Koffi. Both teams had like maximum of 13 musicians participating, but Academia came with more hunger and aggression because they had a point to prove that they could survive without Koffi, whereas Bcbg were kinda chilled because they were most of Wenge 4x4 and already had Jb’s aura.

Sanction. Titanic is a little bit monotonous when hearing Tour Eiffel, Proces Mambika, Likala Moto, Barakuda and the generic Titanic, all sounding sad and almost the same with seben also being of the same style, while they had 3 lead guitarists in the band (Makaba, Mbokaliya and Fi-Carre). In Sanction each track has its own color and Lebou Kabuya who the only solist in that album doing his best to play give each sebene his own color. Didn't say that Titanic is a bad album, it's maybe the best album of Clan Wenge or the second best album, but I prefer Sanction above Titanic.

While Titanic has classics like Omba and RDC and it feels like the last proper Wenge album, Sanction blows it out of the water in more ways than one. Academia's hunger and willingness to prove themselves, aggressive sebenes, top sound quality, a relatively streamlined lineup that screams 'less is more' (by Congolese band standards). I'm gonna choose Sanction.

I completely agree with Mfumu and SLK, I’ve always said the Titanic Generique and Sebenes were slow and soft compared to the other releases that year for example Force d’intervention Rapide, Droit De Veto and Nous Y Sommes to name a few. Titanic will always be a classic but the styles were too similar, that’s one of the main reasons why people preferred Intervention Rapide over titanic because the Sebene were more powerful and aggressive.
Whereas Sanction was just fire from the beginning till end and that’s also one of the best albums in Clan Latino.

I don’t know what the hype is about Sanction, I always found the whole album really unlistenable the instruments all sound like they were played by a school band. They just didn’t have a direction, I can’t find one memorable song in sanction, the generique is somewhat ok but again the guitar work is amateurish, I really wished they’d refine their sound a bit more.
