Defao here trying to do some Kaludji animation's like Bilolo and animating along with Azanga

Most people know only the version of 1995 and the remix version of 1996 with Burkina Faso

I discovered this version some years ago. The version I prefer the most is the one released in 1995.

The quality of the whole album wasn't good I could see why Defao re recorded those songs in Diane Music with Luciana Demingongo and Keyboard player nzenze mogengo.

It seems like they recorded the album in one day, because you can hear Defao asking towards the end of the song Apo Makanzu "to enchainer ou bien ?". The album quality was really bad. It was like they recorded it in Kinshasa. Was this because of Flash Diffussion Business being stingy or Defao not having enough strong financial donors when starting the Europe-tour.

Defao did it well to remix the album which they released as Pitie Mon Amour. But did Djodjo Bayinge, Adoli and Debleu Kinanga already run away in Europe when recording the albums Pitie Mon Amour and Stars Play ? Because I didn't hear them there while in the album Apo they participated in the chorus.


What I don't understand is Defao releasing Pitie Mon Amour and  the next year releasing exactly the same album, but without Azanga's animations and Defao just the animation by himself. Defao really needed a manager, because he was  releasing to much albums. In 1992 he released like 3 albums, in 1993 4 albums and 1994 4 and 1995 5 albums. From that era only the album of Amour Scolaire, Solange Muana, Stars Play (also known as Phily Mbala) and Pitie Mon Amour really stayed in people mind.

I don't know why he released two versions of the Famille Kikuta but he deleted Azanga animations. All I know his dernier album 95 is just remix of his old songs.

I believe most of the songs on that particular album, Apo, were demos that Defao would refine and polish the following year. It may not be much but the album gives me that demo-like quality, especially when you compare it to Pitie Mon Amour, which is more or less the final product.

That album was more or less an updated version of the original Solange Lima album, which I don't think was released outside Africa.

It could be possible, because most Congolese artists would record their albums at Diane Music (except Koffi Olomide & Papa Wemba). However, Mayala is/was still known for being stingy. I remember Reddy Amisi in one of his many interviews saying that he went to look for another recordlabel, when he was about to record Prudence since that Mayala didn't want him to record his album at expensive studios like Koffi.

But why releasing a demos ? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe that Defao signed with Mayala's label Flash Difussion Business, but the contract not being respected and Defao running away towards Maillot Jaune which made Mayala release this version to find a way to get money to get his invested money back.

The original Solange album is along with Wenge's remix album of Bouger Bouger and Debaba's last album with Choc Stars 1993, the album that I'm looking everywhere.

I'm hoping Debaba's album is found the album was the curtain fall of Debaba's career afterwards he was marching in the streets of Kinshasa with a megaphone.
