I am preparring something for my own artistico project and for this I have to review/study a lot of Congolese music and the first group I have studied Is Zaiko for obvious reasons, besides Franco and Tabù Ley I don't think that there Is a group who influenced Congolese musicians like Zaiko, even Koffi, Werra and many others BCBG too a lot have take their dances or cries with that said, why do young people like Vanguerard, the Bassist who Is now Is on Heritier if I am not mistaken, Lola Muana Who left the guigarist Who player in 19 Minutes De Ngwasuma join Zaiko? To take the msot recente example Vanguerard the guy with a weird voice Who dances really well, could.have gine ti BCBG, QL, or even Maison Mere since he has good dancing skills but why have he chosed Zaiko instead? To me that's weird being young (now he might be in his 40s or even 50s but he was young when he joined Zaiko) and joinikg Zaiko when there are a lot of banda available. What do you think Is the reasons why the join

They wont recruit old people, because they don't have the time, because of having a wife, children, etc. and alot of responsibilities. It would hard for them to do matolo and live like a gigolo with mutliple women. Even Bana OK had in its last days, mostly youg musicians.

Another reason is that Zaiko wanted to compete against Wenge. Like the way Papa Wemba made Nouvelle Ecriture and Emeneya later creating a new Victoria Eleison. After the flop of Sans Issue and Backline Lesson One, they felt that they needed from new musicians. That's why the recruited Papy Cocaine who had to incarnate the role of Tutu Kaludji. In the final  he battled against Celezino, but Celezino lost (maybe that's why he used to insult Nyoka Longo alot at some point 5/6 years ago on youtube). They also recruited Daniel 6000 as new solist, Deo Brondo, Willy Bula and Lassa Lacolyte as singers. The formula worked the next album Nous Y Sommes was a succes, Poison wasn't well promoted by JPS but it was a good album.

After Poison, they continued recruiting young musicians. But many of them didn't join because they wanted it, they joined because of them looking a way to get in Europe, those who worked in Zaiko's staff trying to influence them. Shulay for example was stuck in Kinshasa when joining along with Japonais Wenge Maison Mere without having papers. But he left Maison Mere very quickly when Didier Masela left to form his own band, he followed him but he realized that Masela wasn't serious so he left. He tried to join Wenge Tonya Tonya, but Adolphe's staff blocked him. So he didn't hadn't any choice then joining Zaiko. He never received papers and would make the same mistake again like 1998 by returning along with Lola Muana, Doudou Adoula and Nyoka Longo to Kinshasa in 2009 to re-start Zaiko. But he left along with Lola Muana the band quickly and from then he's stuck in Kinshasa. Lola Muana would return again in 2011 after the release of Bande Annonce.


 If you look to Bidjana's interviews you will see that he said that he never wanted to join Zaiko because of seeing it as "orchestre ya ba pere" and being scared to die because of its reputation to lose his bandmembers often. But him ending up by joining because of someone working in Zaiko's staff imposing him to do. Guys like Prince Bella and Strelli Mikobi came from Lofombo's Delta Force and hadn't any choice because Lofombo spent to join time in Europe and other members like John Scott and Ile de Camboge leaving Delta Force for Quartier Latin.

Lola Muana was forced by Andre Kimbuta to join Zaiko. Back at that time he had his own band and even released an album. But that album flopped. In 2005 he was contacted by influent WMM-staff members to join Wenge Maison Mere to punish Koffi for the way Koffi recruited Jordan Kusa. But Werrason indirectly didn't accept him when doing his test at Zamba Playa. After it Andre Kimbuta contacted him to join Zaiko. He refused, but Andre Kimbuta insisted he helped with recruiting some musicians and even gave some concerts with them for PPRD's campaign (Kabila's party). After that Kimbuta made for him and Oncle Bapius a visa to get in Europe to join the real Zaiko.

2003-2009 was the worst period of Zaiko. There was a point that Nyoka Longo even started to complain that most young members didn't know songs of Zaiko and not even loved the band, just being there for Europe. Zaiko was stuck in Europe  after that Nyoka Longo was arrested for the ngulu-affair. Nyoka Longo had a case with the Belgian Justice about ngulu's (even spent a time in prison) and was afraid to return back to Kinshasa after it. But his friend and big Zaiko-fanatic André Kimbuta kept insisting and even recreated in 2006 a band for him in Kinshasa called "Les Gunners de Zaiko" associating drummer Roukoulet who was left behind for Zenith 2002, bass-player Oncle Bapius who left Zaiko in 1998/99 and Lola Muana. They recruited young musicians in Kinshasa (the team of Vaugerard, Alino Vimba, Theo Mbala and Bijou Bass). It was the same team that welcomed them in Kinshasa when Nyoka Longo returned him in 2009 and recorded with him Bande Annonce.

When Daniel 6000 left in Ireland after Zenith, Tshanda remained the only solist.
