Reddy Amisi himself wasn't a saint in the days of Prudence & Injustice and the first years of Casa do Canto.

Thinking back about this interview. Reddy may be right about those those 5 year pacts. However, I think that it’s different today. Because now bandleaders spend like 3/4/5 years to release a solo-album, so that 5 years pact wouldn’t make any sense today. Because you should restart after every album lol. But back in the days maybe yes Because Papa Wemba had crazy succes for 5 years when he started Viva La Musica and he said himself in interviews when he just created the band that he would dominate Kinshasa for 5 years which also happened until Victoria got created. The same Papa Wemba when coming in December 1997 to celebrate new year with his sponsor Unibra/Skol said in multiple interviews that he would slow down with World Music and concentrate more on Nouvelle Ecriture for 5 years. In the 5 years he played Olympia. Zénith, Bercy and Stade des Martyrs and just after that  he got arrested for the ngulu-affair.  King Kester Emeneya had crazy succes from Victoria Eleison’s creation in 1982 to 1987. The same for Bozi with Anti Choc in 1986 to 1991. I don’t remember if it was in 1991 or 1992. But back than it was stated in newspapers that Bozi lost his head and seriously being ill at home

Would Wenge Musica count? They were already established but they became Congo's biggest music sensations with Kin e Bouge, stayed on top with each album release and broke up a year after Pentagone. Then again, their case could be different because unlike all those other bands you mentioned, they weren't exactly instantly successful. Maybe Werrason and JB would count because they were at their overall peak during the first 5 years of their post-4x4 careers.

It is sad to see he is not talking about the real problems which is not witchcraft, but rather selfishness and everybody wanting to be the boss. This is not the way to run a successful band. Musicians are going more for success nowdays than doing quality thing. What matters is having the album not how the album sounds. Now, in that circumstance it is not a surprise the culture is declining. There was witchcraft in the 60's, 70's and 80's as well, the music scene was not like today even so.
