What Mbuta Likasu said about those bands being like a course for musicians of their generation is true, them having already some experience and the musicians of today lacking it because them coming directly from home and/or not having that long career of being in street bands. Them being immediatly impatient to have a solo-career or leave their band.

Deptra's career before Victoria was really long from 1985 to 1997, being in various bands of Kasa-Vubu, Yolo and Matongé, grewing up with musicians like Tutu Kaluji, Tosha Bass, Corean Polystar, Djo Lockis, Alpatchino, Pathy Bass. etc. It's strange that none of these bands of that generation managed to succeed. Every area/quarter had atleast 4 solid bands.

It was fascinating to hear Deptra name Bill Clinton Kalonji, Bizima Kondos and Eric Masudi, about those guys being in the same band in Ngiri-Ngiri. I remember Bizima once saying that Gentamicine was his friend. It explains maybe also some hate that Eric Masudi had against Bill when arguing about those tshiluba cri's who weren't even of them.
