The video was made to announce their show for Zenith de Paris that was scheduled for September 14th 2002, but the show getting cancelled because of the concert-promoter to paying the rent to late. I don't know what was going on with concert-promoter for Congolese shows in 2002, but Zaiko had the same problem in 2002 them seeing their Zenith of July 2002 being cancelled for it and rescheduled for September 2002. The same for Koffi's Triple Olympia that never came.

Wemba's 50th anniversary that was celebrated in 1999 with a 7-day festival at the same l´Esplanade des Martyrs, became like FIKIN from 2000 to 2003 where several artists would perform during dummer in the same period of the same FIKIN. If I remember Wemba wanted back in the early 1990s to be have an international festival funded by the governement to invite every year big local artists and international artists with him as main artist, in order to let the Congolese population also discover those artists they see on tv but never get the chance to see them live. His 50th anniversary (Festival Fula Ngenge) was the first edition, but he did it without help from governement and just with local sponsor inviting Bozi Boziana, Zaiko Langa Langa, Maray Maray,  Delta Force, Wenge El Paris and Zaiko Universal as guests. He thought that the succes of it would lure the governement to help in out the following year and inviting international artists. It sadly didn't happen and instead of that the idea stayed and it became like FIKIN with several bands/artists performing over there, including Wemba himself.  I don't know who being the head of it, but in 2004 it dissapeared and it never came back.

Poor Sampaio, him saying that he will go for the first time to Europe. Until this day he had never the chance to get in Europe. I remember Guy Kimvula saying that when they received visa's for Emeneya's Zenith and trying to convince Guy Moller to come back by showing visa's, Sampiao being the only bandmember to not having received a visa for Europe.

It's strange to see the fans in Kinshasa waving with the Belgium flag. Apart from the incident in 1998, in the era of LD Kabila and the first years of Joseph Kabila, there was zero patriotism. You could see people coming with the Belgium flag, the French flag, the British one, that of the United States and some with the flag of Switserland. It was only on rare occassions that they would come with the old 6-stars Congo-flag, even in Europe. People weren't hyping it like today where you see many Congolese people coming with their flag at weddings or parties. 20 years ago would see Congolese people just coming with flags of the country where they were living it at their parties. Congolese people living in Belgium were champion in coming with the Belgium flag at weddings, parties and concerts. The love that Congolese people had for Europe was to big along with the pride of living there or the dream of living there.


I don't remember if it was radio tshondo or the other one, but a combattant based in London blaming Congolese artists in contributing it, giving the example of JB Mpiana letting perform his dancers with the clothes made with the British flag, Koffi Olomide letting his singers dance with pants having the American flag on it in Generation Bercy.

What led to Anthony Sampaio to leave Victoria Elesien Dream Team for Viva La Musica Nouvelle Ecriture.

He didn't directly join Nouvelle Ecriture from Victoria Eleison. He first left with Guy Moller, Eric Masudi, Sweet Elesse and Zoe Bella to form Dream Team after dissagreement with Emeneya about the way they were abandoned for months long by him in Kenya and struggling there, also for never getting in Europe altough every year being promised to tour and never really being paid. They left when Emeneya was about to plan his concert at Zenith de Paris. Athony Sampaio left Dream Team quickly because of leadership-war within the band. He then stayed at home for months in the hope to return back to Victoria Eleison when they would finish the tour. But Victoria Eleison were staying to long in Europe and in meantime he met Papa Wemba, saying that his a great singer and couldn't stay like that at home. This made him join Nouvelle Ecriture,  immediatly getting a place in the band and also feeling home, having new friends like Alpatchino.

When Wemba walked to the streets, I somewhere written 10fc as entrance-fee. However, I remember Wemba in an interview saying that the concert would be for free to celebrate to his 33 years in music and also some articles being written that the event was sponsored by Vodacom with people being allowed to come for free. Some being there to ridiculize with for being for free, claiming that the stadium wasn't filled, etc. Was it for free or had people to pay ?

Thinking about it and looking the recent interviews. Is it true that from JB's event at Stade des Martyrs in 2001, the part of the public that was standing on the concert-field were entering for free ? Because apart that of Werrason, if you look to the concerts of Koffi and JB to can see that just the stadium being full, but not the field and the a big amount coming in when the leaders would enter the stadium. Some even claim that whole of JB's event at Martyrs in 2001 was for free, also newspapers who were pro-Werra written it (I don't think that it was credible) and comedians like Tito, late Visa and Mbata Siala making fun of it to attack late Tatu Kalombo in their comedyshow.
