The many xenophobic comments I saw made me sad 2 months ago on a post Papy Bastin made about Papy Jah's interview made me sad. I never understood that much of hate our neighbours have against us. I have read on several facebook pages of Brazzaville, more than 20 times people saying, I used to be your fan, but because of you being "Zarois" im not your fan anymore. Is it a sin to come from DRC  are we descendants of Satan ?

In Kinshasa there are many Angolans and those that managed to have a big career in soccer, music, business and even politics. In the music I can name Simaro Lutumba, Nyoka Longo, Sam Mangwana, Pepe Felly Manuaku, Beniko Popolipo, Karmapa, Djuna Mumbafu, Papy Tex, etc. the list is long. They are insulted as muzombo, etc. but it's not that people kill their career instead many people just become fan of them.

Sometimes I wonder why Papy Bastin just doesn't return to Kinshasa and tries his luck over there. You can come from a different region or even be foreign, but people will give you a chance. Look at Inoss B. sometimes people insult him and claim that he's foreign, but he is still able to have a career and do his shows, etc.

Beniko and Karmapa are Angolan? I didn't know this you always discover new things, I would have never guessed it, anyway unfortunately Facebook and Social media gave the opportunity to idiots to give their words instead of being queit and being laughed at like in the past, with that said working with Arafat of Brazza is one of the worst thing you can do as a musician tbh the guy always promise a great project who turns up to be nothing with no music release tbh I don't know why Papy Bastin left Nouvel Horizon

Papy Bastin left because of the conflict he had with manager Berbert Etou.

First time that I heard about Popolipo being Angolan, was when late Papy Ipepy came with a whole list of artists being "muzombo" in an interview with Addy Londole. Then last year,  Popolipo confirmed in one of his many interviews that he had Angolan roots, saying it when he talked about his surname Beniko which is normally written as Benico, saying that it is Portuguese and talking about the bad relation he had with his dad, who divorced with his mother, etc.

About Karmapa, it was that when his conflict with Koffi started and that one fan insulted him, saying that he hasn't the right to talk bad about Koffi, because he isn't Congolese and insulting "muzombo". So I went to ask my cousin who's from Matete if its true that Karmapa has Angolan roots and my cousin confirming that, talking about their family, etc. Thinking back to it, it must be someone that used to be close to him who insulted him on internet. Because for years it was a mystery for people to know Karmapa's background (ethnicity, origin, etc.)

karmapa has some angolan roots but also the same roots as defao,ironically enough ya poly is pretty much the same congolese origin aswell that group of bantandu and co

About Djouna Mumbafu, I wonder if his dad was in Angola when Yaya Londa was born and then he went to Kinshasa when Djouna was born? Just curious to know.

The parents were already based in Kintambo (Kinshasa) before their birth. Angolans started to migrate to Congo already since 1914, due to a revolt by Tulante Mbuta in the remaining part of the Kongo Kingdom that became a vassal-state of Portugal since 1862 before the Conference of Berlin. The revolt led to Portugal deciding to abolish the Kongo Kingdom and come with a punitive expidition which led to many Angolans moving to Congo. The colonization that followed was also harsh kind like slavery/apartheid and in the following decades many Angolans moving to Matadi, Kimpese, Kwilu-Ngongo, Thysville (Mbanza-Ngungu) and Kinshasa. The biggest waves being in the 1940s and 1950s. A big part returned slowly back to Angola between 1975 and the late 1980s, bringing with them the Congolese culture and Lingala-language. But you had also many staying in Kinshasa, being assimiliated.
