the part of Dany Engobo getting informed that Wenge Maison Mere arrived at the same hotel looking for the dancers, getting panicked, knowing that the dancers would probably sleep with Celeo, Bill and co killed me hahaha

I remember his hit came out back when youtube was still young. he had like 30 millions views then. 66M since. I wonder if he ever made any money from the views or any royalties for that matter.

I don't think that he made alot of money from Decale Gwada. Last year, I watched a documentary about Dadju's life on the French television, him saying that people were surpised to see him (still) working at that Mac Donalds, while he had his first hit on the music-scene that was hitting the top of all music-charts in France.

When my nephew would watch Jessy's videos he used to make on youtube and dailymotion with La Selesao being on tour or normal videos, etc. It seems that he had just a normal life while French popstar that have money, always tend to show off on their socials and often migrate to the US, Belgium or Morroco when they are millionaires. The difference just being that he was the first one of his generation that was signed to mayor label, having to chance to tour here and there and get heavy promotion in the French television when releasing his singles and albums. At the same time, some were not being happy with the music that he was making  saying that it was too mainstream from the music used to make before signing with a mayor and prefering Anges d'Afrik, Bana C4 and others that didn't sign with a mayor yet.

This seems to be a big problem for artists in Europe or Congo. They can make music but somehow, they can't make money off their music like all the other artists. signing with the right business partners also has a major role in this. Makes you wonder if it makes sense to keep making music if you're not going to be paid for it unless you are already established. Afro-Congo music is also not quite marketable. too many artists dropping songs everyday and none of them is known.
I remember when Bana C4 first came out around 14 years ago. They had so much potentials giving congolese musicians abroad a chance, but they fizzled out just as soon as they came up because of the same problem they all have which is mismanagement and no marketing strategy.
