You have to understand a lot of that message is no longer relevant to the younger generation in the diaspora. Most are already second or third generation, and do not have that same attachment to "home" that the first generation nostalgically sung about. just my two cents.
There's always an appetite for songs that reflect life's struggles, the key is good songwriting and song's arrangement. I know this newer generation is into sebene, so maybe go the route of Kinshasa or Bana Lunda by JB Mpiana or Nzimba by Extra Musica. Mix the medicine with the candy – thoughtful lyrics about life and family but the sweet sebene at the end
