It’s my favorite Extra Musica album. However back in the days, when it came out. I didn’t like the generique, because I found it weird to not hear Kila Mbongo,  after hearing his voice  5 generiques on the row. I was wondering where he was.  I was not really into the music of Extra Musica. It’s only 10 or 15 years ago that I got used to their style and seriously started listening to their albums and realizing that they were actually making good music. While back in the days apart their first album, I was only listening to their generiques and maybe 2 or 3 songs of their album, being more focused on Koffi, Wemba and Clan Wenge

Trop C’est Trop is a great album. Roga Roga often says in interviews that they were on their peak on Etat Major and Shalai. But I think that’s Trop C’est Trop for instrumentalists and the singers. The way Roga Roga played lead on this album is totally different from other albums. It’s a shame that he decided to focus on singing.

It’s crazy that they didn’t tour with this album in Europe. If a look back, I think that this album was the most promoted of Extra Musica in our community and also in Kinshasa. Because I remember the album being promoted in magazines like Grand Lac and the song Probleme sur Probleme & generique being played often on the radio. Because of the generique hearing that much, I felt like they were forcing me to like it lol. While I used to hate that generique because of not hearing Kila Mbongo.

One of my top 3 album from Extra Musica. I really the whole album to the beginning until the end ( the 3 morceau bonus such as Papato, Kayembe Bikisa Ngai & Karen Amour). The only song I didn’t like until this day is polémique générale, I wish they would replace it with a rumba made by Papy Jah. It’s sad they didn’t tour due to the Ngulu Affair when they came back to Brazzaville. I know the album would be bigger with a touring & promotion

Its crazy how these guys of both congos were having classic albums back to back, etat major shalai trop c'est trop
its like roga was indirectly announcing imminent "retirement" from solo  the way he played there, then in obligatoire and la main noire it startred to change and he made THE move in going to the microphone

I actually liked Polémique Générale alot. It was one of my favorite songs. I always listen to it when I have problems with someone, "batu na lakisa mosala nzambé eeh" hahahaha

Papy Jah had like Papy Bastin bad luck to be part of "ba nouveaux", so they had to participate on 3 or 4 albums in order to make a chance to put songs on albums like Sonor Digital, Doudou Copa, Herman Ngassaki and Abilissi who already left. On the other side I think that it was good that he didn't had a song on the album, because he had already alot vocals on the album more than any other singer. He also sung lead on Zangul Zangul and had a duet with Doudou Copa on Karen Amour.

He really pulled his weight on this album, I didn't miss Abilissi. I wonder why he abandoned the mi-solo because it gave the sebenes extra power, just listen to Oxygene's and Sonor's song.

If I'm not mistaken, they recorded a bit of their follow up album in Paris. But maybe the ngulu affaire disrupted it's production.

I remember the first time I listened to this album and being shocked at the acoustic quality - very stunning production. They completely outdid Shalai

What a wonderful time it was then for musical releases - in that season albums like Effrakata, Madilu’s Bonheur, and this album among others came out within a 1-2 month period. All albums brought to the table a fresh 21-century sound. Unfortunately things started to go downhill in future years from a production/creative quality standpoint.

I have the original DVD of the album, but the quality is not up to par. So I improved them and uploaded them to Youtube, check it out if you want. Some tracks are missing due to the censorship of Youtube. The quality of audio is also better than any other streaming version available online:

This was a great album indeed. I think Roga Roga started to want to sing more because he saw some success with his song Racines the second version and top of that, he wants to be noticed too. I mean look at the videos before, Roga Roga wanted to make sure that he was seen.
