Shella himself isn't even aware that his album came out, because in interviews he always that the album wasn't released.

It is really sad that he couldn't find a proper label/producer. You would think that working with Remy Kilola would be blessing, since that the Kinshasa-movies he was producing in Europe were selling alot, having also Manu Luvaka as distributor, who had a big name in Congolese music-scene.

I honestly think he made a mistake by returning to Kin instead of staying in Europe like Fally advised him to. He might’ve had a better chance of finding a label in Europe or self funded the album like Jipson, Soleil, Modogo and co did

Shella Mputu stayed in Europe like many others. But for whatever reason, he decided to return back to Africa. He rejoined Quartier Latin in Pointe Noire, after they finished performing in Ivory Coast and asked Koffi for forgiveness.

Why did almost the drôle group stayed in Europe after the tour ? Was it for papers ? Or maybe they wanted to leader Quartier Latin to pursue a solo career like Fally ?

I think that everyone had his own reason. I don't remember who it was (Junior, Jipson or Mirage), the person said that they know that Quartier Latin would die once being back in Kinshasa and that nobody had the intention to go back. But it was not explained why they were thinking like that.

Apocalyps once say that he was afraid to receive 12 from Koffi for participating in Droit Chemin, because of the way people started to warn him about what happened to Mboshi in Kinshasa after that Academia got created. Felly Tyson also said something similar in one of his recent interviews.

However, I remember reading an article where it was written that Koffi said that they had to stay in Europe and do their best to get papers, because he wouldn't apply for visa's anymore. I don't know if it was the same article, but it was also written that Koffi started to humiliate Ferre in the rehearshal by calling Bouro Mpela, who just rejoined QL, "transfer le plus chère" and other stuff, which angered Ferre and which why he didn't show up to concerts anymore

By Danger de Mort, most of the band was turning 30 years or older and that's always harder to manage because of their increasing responsibilities like family. I'm sure Fally missing concerts to record Droit Chemin accelerated the inevitable because a lot of guys were having children for papers and the increasing difficulties of getting visas to tour were the perfect storm to radically change the line-up.

It just seems more of a headache to maintain the team with the defections than wipe the slate clean and start over. As for Tyson and Binda, they got lucky being instrumentalists and his the face of the group – bought them time

Fally didn't miss any concert during that tour. Fally participated to all concerts from the start till the beginning. He only missed out on their last concert which at Elysee Montmartre, but he was present during the soundcheck. Back in those day it was said that he went to do a playback show somewhere in those Paris' restaurants. It made Koffi apparently very mad, because they agreed that Quartier Latin tourdates and recording-sessions would be the priority.

This when the problems restarted between Koffi and Fally with the story of his ex'wife Nicky Menga, that Fally's sister revealed that Fally didn't show up at the concert, because it was produced by Badive and Nicky apparently having an affair with him, which made Fally boycott the event.



I don't think that becoming older than 30 years would be an issue to manage bandmembers, unless they have ambition. Because look at Wenge BCBG with Kibens, Rio and co or how TP OK Jazz used to be in 1980s. But at the same time Koffi was some who used to like new blood, so maybe he could have done 12 at some guys, like the way he ended up doing with Montana, Shella and Mboshi

It was Mirage that said it, he said someone in the group told him to not bother returning to Europe because the group is dead. It’s a bit frustrating why none of them reveal the real reasons why they left, just coming up with excuses like “oh my contract expired” etc. Fally himself said he will reveal what really happened in his documentary but I doubt it, seems like something bad/strong happened behind the scenes that we don’t know about, because there’s also rumours that they got alerted that Koffi was recruiting the mineurs in kin and that put them off of returning too.
