Koffi got paid a huge amount of money to remix Sans Anesthsie to dedicate the song to the Mbokani-couple (Marlene & Dieumerci). It's one of the worst remixes I've ever heard. If he was minister of culture, I would have arrested Cindy, Marlene Ntesa, Dieumerci Mbokani, Koffi Olomidé and Quartier Latin for butchering one of Koffi's best rumba's.



Yes, after almost 10 years, I finally finished  listening to 13ème Apotre. After listening to all the songs, I finally understood why the album flopped very hard. Next that people were tired of Cindy and the album having to many songs. There's was no rumba that had the potential of hitsongs, while his previous album Abacadabra had songs like Mosisi, Etoile d'Etat, Desormais and 12ème Dan. Also the level of songs in terms of poetry dropped very hard, when comparing it to his albums of Diva till B.E.K. I wonder with which songswriters he collaborated on this album. This songs would have been better if they were sung by Fabregas, But na Filet or Deplick. Koffi name is to big to sing such songs. I think that, that maybe it's why he decided to say, that 13ème Apotre was his last album, seeing how low the level of songwriting dropped in Kinshasa. I wonder why he just didn't use unreleased songs of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s that he saved on cassettes. Compared to Abacadabra, 13eme Apotre has a better sound quality, which is probably because of recording it at Koffi Central (I don't if that studio still exists, because I heard to he sold the venue). However, you can feel that Mbetenge departure left a void, in terms of arrangements of the songs (that's my opinion). 13ème Apotre had for the first time since B.E.K. atleast one sebene song on the album, Char de Combat and Pisticoles (the full song released as clip and the sebene part one the album for commercial reasons).

Whose been doing the arrangements on his recent albums? I'm guessing he's not working with Phillp Guez anymore...

I have know idea. I haven't the cd's nor seen the credits (fiche technique) of 13ème Apotre, Nyataquance and Legende at home. I will listen to Nyataquance in the coming day. I'm slowly preparing myself to listen to the recent albums, by listening to those from 2015 till 2018. I started doing a month ago, by started with albums that came out in 2003, which is the seen as the year of the decline of our music.

Koffi stopped working with Philipe Guez since B.E.K. But I don't if they restarted working together when he was able to go back to Europe again, because I heard a song of Koffi from Legende during a birthday and it was like it was done by Philiphe Guez, but I'm not sure.

Wow, they butchered the song completely. Barely recognizable as one of his best compositions.

If you notice in the all clips Koffi posts it’s him singing his known classics. Most of the songs in his albums post-Abracadabra he himself hasn’t memorized to sing in concerts. The songs are taken directly from songwriters, with the exception of slotting in the name of donors and sung in script in studio.

I think you, Archos, and CM Prince are the only members who listened to the album in full and wrote a review about the near 10 years since it has been released.

I think that it was CM Prince, after that almost everybody kept saying that they hadn't listened to 13eme Apotre, after its release. Me at that time, only had listened to the generique's. Back at that time, I couldn't stand Cindy's voice anymore. It was only when I seriously started listening seriously yesterday that I realized that 1+1 was also one of the generiques on the album.

That make sense. I don't remember which song it was on Abacadabra, but there was song which reminded me of JB Mpiana's Alino Kizaza and the way Koffi sung, made me say "this is not Koffi" and wonder if he really took time to prepare the album or if it was not recorded by other artists and him just putting his voice above it. But now you are saying it make definitely sense. Archos once said that the song Alidor was orginally recorded by Adada and co, who just left Fabregas to form their band to join Koffi Central and Koffi just took the song. The chorus not being done by Quartier Latin, but by them.
Talking about Koffi not or barely singing his post-Abacadabra songs. I don't remember Koffi planning an official event to present the 13eme Apotre-album, while since he officially founded Quartier Latin, he had always an official event at Pullman (ex' Intercontinental/Grand Hotel de Kinshasa) to present his album one or two months after his album-release or the month itself. Did he skip the album presentation or did I just miss it ?

Naa it wasn’t me it was Jdog, I haven’t listened to to 13eme apôtre or abracadabra to this day, I only listened to Legende Vol 1 and 2. Legende Vol 1 was easy to listen to because it had 14 songs and was actually a decent album, Vol 2 I thought I should give it a chance because I liked Vol 1 which was a mistake hahaha.

About Koffi presenting 13eme apôtre I don’t think he did because as soon as the album came out instead of doing the album presenting the album instead he did a concert marking Bouro Mpelas return but more as a solo artist with him performing as a Koffi Centrel artist but then slowly making his return as a QL member, I remember they did a trailer for it

I can’t find the video on Youtube anymore, but he did do a presentation at GHK on September 13th 2015 at 13:13 with the then wife Aliya bringing the album and giving him an awkward kiss when she did the symbolic handoff. Koffi himself sabotaged the roll out with his fixation on milking “Selife”, which interestingly enough was recorded last minute and barely made the album cut. He was supposed to an official concert at GHK but it never materialized, favoring promoting Selfie till the wheels fell off

You guys remember this spot for the album… This pissed me off back in the day - a near 60 year man showing off a young woman like a piece of meat. At least since Cindy became premiere dame he stopped that nonsense

It was a massacre. 99% of 13eme Apotre was atrocious with Cindy moaning on literally every song. But to say Sans Anesthesie is one of Koffi's best Rumbas is a bit too much of a compliment. It's an average Tcha-Tcho love song. His best Rumbas would be Mulherengo, VIP, Dieu Voit Tout, La Ruta, Djino, Aspirine, Phaseur, Airways.
