A month ago I started listening to Werra's albums from 2007 till 2017 and I noticed that from Primus Diatabawu and Malewa volume 2, many rumba's were done in Odemba-style while in Malewa volume 1 and Temps Present, many rumba's were done in Leny Bidens' style (those who listened to Heritier's albums and some songs of Fabregas first three albums, will understand what I mean). Which made me wonder if it was because of Werra stopped working with Leny Bidens or was it because of Ferre's succes with Qui est Derrière Toi that inspired him ?





Nobody can deny how hot Qui est Derrière Toi was back in 2010 with hitsongs like 3ème Doigt, Zazou, Maboko Pamba, Kamasutra, Diki-Diki and Soke. The album also having a huge accent on the odemba style which can be heard in songs like insuline, legume, kerozène, bequille and je t’attends. However, it also created for some criticism for artists like Nyboma and Papa Wemba, who both said that Ferre must be careful for monotonous. He went even deeper into it in the Boite Noire album with most songs being made with acoustic guitars and almost no programmed keyboard rumba's.








When artists beef with each other, they mostly tend to give their best of themselves, come with something new or go back to their roots. But when the Ferre vs Werrason became tense, Werrason invited Olivier Tshimanga to participate on Fleche Ingeta. Instead of doing pure maison mere music, he recorded 28 tracks, from which the majority were rumba's, many also done in the odemba-style (what Ferre was doing) having only 2 sebene tracks next to the generiques. This made me also wonder who won the beef on the artistic side between Ferre and Werrason

Yes thats why he got olivier tshimanga and lofombo playing a lot in that period which participated in the beef with ferre,since ferre's guys saw it like olivier went to bring "secrets" to maison mere since he was the one doing the global artistic direction for ferre and at the same time olivier upset that because of it ferre made him miss out on a lucrative project in south america
in that moment even band members were suspect if seen near la zamba or near metropole in the other way  even if you were just walking by with your kids

What I don't understand is why nobody pointed the finger towards Werrason for "copying" Ferre, like the way some people used to say that Koffi was copying Fally with Tokooos-music in Legende, by having feauterings with Tiwa Savage, Davido and co, when the conflict restarted. Was it because of Werrason still being on the top at that time, when beefing with Ferre compared to Koffi who started to stagnate after 13eme Apotre ?



Also it's strange the way Werrason kept the reputation of being an artist that makes people dance but the albums since Temps Present "Mayi ya Sika" being dominated by rumba's. While Koffi for example, when he started to conquer Africa, by making ndombolo-music, receiving at some point the nickname "King of Ndombolo" abroad. Papa Wemba even making small attacks about it, that Koffi was there to present Ndombolo and brought the genre to the mythic halls of Paris, while he (Wemba) was is there to sing and represent pure music

I think Werra kept reputation for making people dance because of the success of the Malewa génériques and the fact those génériques were so long that it wasn’t that noticeable that the albums were full of rumba’s

Odemba is a way of playing rumba, created a TP OK Jazz. Didn't you hear Ferre Gola often saying in interview that he perform original Odemba music and saying that he's Madilu's heir, etc. , Marcahouse praising Ferre about doing Odemba music ?




About Leny it's just simple. His way of composing rumba's for the artists he's working for. Like the way people easily can detect when he song his composed by his dad Sec Bidens, Maika Munan, Philipe Guez or late Rigo Star. It's just that no one has yet copied Leny's style and that it doesn't have a name. I already posted examples of his composed rumba's with Wenge Maison Mère above.
