and he already had an interview in france where he talked about how he got recruited in academia, how somono sent gangsters to cause trouble at rehearsal when he falled out with same, how sam put a rule that as the president who arrives later than him does not rehearse and lebou was coming up to 8 hours later to show sam that he was not bothered
and how he went to cultura with pitshou concorde when academia collapsed but fans of cultura unsettled him and he met jb to ask for money hearing reports that jb liked him already so he joined like that and that jb liked him but he was very very threatened in the group especially from when seguin without naming out of respect and him argued about a sidekick and he added that some members of the old guard were putting spells on jb so that he only likes them and that sometimes jb would even confront some of them in rehearsals that its too much now and that he had heard that they went to sorcerer x y z to reinforce
and that those dirty tactics made him regret not having join maison mere instead where he'd just slot in as ferre's replacement, because they'd always make sure to block your way in any type of form so that jb does not have much time to like you which is a shame because he is a fan of jb and knows jb is a good person but these guys have way too much control and power in the band due to the power they have on the boss himself and at some points jb just surrenders and minds his business and let the guys deal between themselves because its draining to deal with the back and forth, he likes you and they dont they'll go back to village and you get in trouble for no reason, you drop of trip lists and so on
and that at some point he was at his lowest and went to sorcerer himself to save his life and sorcerer said he had to sacrifice his daughter and he was like hell no and thats how he left the group
and that he is proud that he came to europe alone without depending from fally or ferre and them having to dictate him who can interview him or not

Maison Mere or QL would've been a better fit for him rather than BCBG.

Interesting revelations. Wow so Babia coached Eric Mente and taught him how to sing like a proper tenorist and taught him Quartier Latin songs and also Academia songs. I was saying that in some songs Eric sounded like Babia in Viagra.

So they filmed all the clips of the Viagra album in Europe but it was never officially released with only a few available because someone sabotaged the copies which makes sense why they re filmed three of the clips in Kinshasa, which was the generique, zabalumbu, somunkiriye  and also they re filmed Jules BM and Certitude in Europe after the split. In total the clips that are still missing are Love Story, Vagues, Tres Fort and Chico.

What happened at the airport was ridiculous so the entire band including newly recruited musicians from 4 coins kandala went to the airport expecting to travel for the next Europe tour including Olympia but when they got to the airport and only Sam, Modogo and Mboshi took their flights and left the entire band behind, with them not getting visas. How can Sam and co knowing the whole band didn't get visas give them hope that they were all going to Europe? Must've been so disheartening especially for Eric, Tonton lay, Pitchou Concorde and Musikasika you just came back from Europe thinking you're going to return and make plans with your staff only to be left behind.

sam got scammed by a guy who was making people travel and who promised he'd manage to find them visas in that difficult context since it was still the era where they could just put your photo  in any passport and unless the age of birth is like 15 years older than what your face suggests it could be easier to go through customs,i forgot the guy's name but years later when sam returned to drc (around 2008 9 him and his friend eddy badiata meet the guy drinking in the same bar as them and sam was so angry that he punched him and they ended at police)
if you look at the liboke of sam he said his return lasted longer than planned because he had to find other way to pay ngulu debt while the plan was that they'd come and have some concerts whose contract would help paying, now without the group sam even had to do regular work to save money

so he did not last long in maison mere because of kakol's system of making singers pay before entering the lineup and the rotation

Sam, Modogo and Mboshi did them really dirty. Why couldn't they just say that they will go on their own and that they had to wait instead of lying that they would go with them or was it a strategy to make them hate Koffi, to make it look like that it was because that they didn't travel, to avoid them join Quartier Latin ? That must have been a huge humilation for Musikasika, Pitshou, Eric, Tonton and co. Have given away all your clothes, thinking that you will go to Europe. So guys like Zamba, Mbetenge, Guy Banzunga, the singer that was singing like Mon Ami Guelord and the two new atalaku's that animated on Quatre Coins Kandala were meant to go to Europe ? Was Tshe-Tshe le Balle still with them or did he already join Quartier Latin, because I believe that it was Logilo who played the drums on Quatre Coins Kandala. I really wonder how Academia would have been if Sam didn't get those visa issues.

Btw what did become of the two atalaku's that animated next to Mboshi ? There was one that did Somono's role and who was presented as Petit Molangwa in the Kinshasa version of Viagra clips and I believe that he did an interview 10 years saying that he participated to Abacadabra. But I don't remember if it was Ordinateur or someone else, because almost all atalaku's of Quartier Latin during the between Skol Mandamanda and Abacadabra were sounding the same. The atalaku said that he was preparing a maxi-single called Imperium and after that I had never seen him back.

So sad that the leaders of Academia themselves sabotated the Viagra-clips themselves. So there was never an official VHS Viagra ? Or is it just that they came out in Europe instead of Kinshasa ? Because if the official VHS wasn't released how did all those clips came on different youtube-channel ?
I first only knew the viagra-clip made in Europe only from African-hits compilation and MCM. Ezala-Zala from Grand Dossier. The remaining ones I knows them from the Kinshasa-VHS. But I had never seen the other clips before Martin Mapangu uploaded them. I discovered Jules BM and another one I think Certitude or Kimpwaka because of Idamawatu uploading them back in 2008 or 2009. The rest I've seen them recently.

In terms of official release, Sanis J.M. Production released the clips for Viagra. I remember my Mom buying the VHS from those shops in Château Rouge. They should have released the album in the summer of 2001 and sent half the group to Kinshasa to keep the momentum going from Sanction. With Somono in Kin and Sam in Europe, maybe those two apart me could have eased tension in the group.

Those only have the 3 clips from Kin, Viagra, Somunkiriye and Zabalumbu. Not the whole album

Yeah even Eric said that Koffi isn't completely to blame for Academia's collapse but the admins themselves. Eric implied that the whole band was due to go to Europe, with no one getting left behind including Rocky Blanchard it's honestly too bad because that newly recruited bunch of Academia looked promising, I wonder how their next album would've sounded like with Eric Menthe, Tonton lay, Pitchou Concorde and co adding songs in the album with Guy Bazunga as well who is Sam's cousin who's known writer because Sam and Modogo gave him a shoutout in Collation.
Interesting to know it was Eric and Tonton themselves that were leading Academia themselves when Sam and Modogo went back to Europe with the group totally collapsing when Tonton Lay joined Quartier Latin.

One of the two atalakus joined Tonton Lay's band and even redid the cries from 4 Coins Kandala in Tonton Lay's generique
2:50

I think the Viagra clips were released in compilations or weren't released at all as a full VHS because Eric said the clips weren't released which seriously affected Viagra's promotion, with the Europe clips going missing and then Sam being forced to re record three of the clips in Kinshasa. Also if it was released as an official VHS I'm sure it would've been uploaded on YouTube a long time ago.
Sam Modogo and mboshi re recorded the clips of Certitude and Jules BM right after their return to Europe in 2003 because look at Sam and Modogo's hair they have the same haircuts they had for 4 Coins Kandala with them also mixing it along with the previous recording of Jules BM and Certitude which they filmed in 2001.

This was released in 2003 I believe.

Spring 2001 would have been better, because at that Koffi and Wemba already released Force de Frappe and A La Une. Nobody was new on the market only Wazekwa who brought Signature out, I think somewhere in April or March. I believe that it was made him succeed since that nobody was on the market.

In the summer 2001, you had Werrason releasing Kibuisa Mpimpa in june 2001 and people waiting for Internet to come out. Academia just overstayed in Europe. However, the generique started well, but the hype went over quickly. I think that the departure of Pathy and Suzuki (by both staying in Europe), Lebou Kabuya and later Somono killed the promotion of Viagra and also the image of the group. Themselves also being to busy with attacking Lebou and Somono next to Koffi instead.

Congolese music is complicated. I wonder why  bandleaders suspend or fire their spokemen and/or musicians sometimes, when they visit other bandleaders in concerts who are not in conflict with them. I really wonder what the reason was behind JB Mpiana being mad at Eric Menthe and the other guy for visiting Fally.
