The story about how Alpatchino died made me really sad. What a loss. I remember those tensions between Alpa's family and Papa Wemba. Alpa's death killed the remaining image that Papa Wemba had as elder and from than his name only being cited in scandals with women.

I didn't knew that Emeneya was that stingy. It's really sad how conflict between Mambo de Panama and Emeneya started about the money of Mutu ya Zamani. JDK Decor explained last year the conflict between him and Emeneya. But the way Emeneya kept talking bad about both guys in press made people believe him and alot of people hating them for real.

I would like to see Didi Kinuani in Liboke. I was surprised to hear that he used to eat at Emeneya's house when he was poor, to sell cigarettes, etc. It make sense why he kept inviting Emeneya and his band for private shows at his house with just his children and himself as crowd. Also the way he kept supporting Emeneya financially. I wonder why he never had an idea to write a book about his life or do record a documentary, maybe that he's ashamed about his past, like many rich Congolese businessmen. Emeneya was so lucky to have alot of people around him, who became later rich (Adolphe Muzito, etc.). But it looks like he didn't really took advantage from it for his music-career, what other bandleaders did and prefered investing everything to his private life. It was also crazy to hear that Emeneya is related to André Yimbi (aka' Mort-Mort).

About Dream Team not being on the list of Papa Wemba's Bercy, I think that Papa Wemba didn't want to be associated with them, since that Emeneya kept accussing Koffi Olomidé and Papa Wemba in press for disbanding Victoria Eleison. But I remember vieux Djess or JDK Decor saying that they got problems with ngulu's due to late Monib Production. Papa Wemba having debts despite having brought 200 people to Europe and earned nothing with the list still not being finished until Papa Wemba getting arrested. It would not surpise me if Monib had scammed people for Bercy and Double Zenith or the list of ngulu being to big and him dumping them to Papa Wemba.

About Dream Team having success with their concerts next to the succesfull shows at YMCA and Village Bercy, I think that it was for a big part due to curiosity.  I remember most people not liking them for the way they left Emeneya just before Zenith. The focus on them quickly faded after that Emeneya did Zenith and Olympia. The way late Nico Bwakongo attacked Guy Moller during YMCA was for me a confirmation that artists/bands do not like seeing other bands/artists succeeding next to them and them only wanting fame for themselves. Why should a sold-out show be a threat ? Like Mbuta, I wonder why they didn't kept collaborating with the guy who spiritually prepared YMCA for them. Hearing how Guy Moller was able to breath a bit after the visit of Abbé Koko at his rehearshal-place made me conclude that he need to be spiritually strong if you to last for a long time in the game.

I think that many Victoria fans will not happy with the few secrets Guy Moller revealed, because Emeneya was often given an image in the press of someone that never did witchcraft or having people doing it for him and no former staffmember, bodyguard or musician being there that contredicted him. While during his prime (1982-1988) there were several rumors and stories. It's only his friend Cartouche who in 2009 revealed some secrets and talking about a witchdoctor in Matete/Kisenso, where they used to do their incantations. It will not surprise me if one of Emeneya's former musician will do an interview to react against Guy Moller, like the way Denis Lutula did (just because he wasn't happy that he didn't mention or credit him).


Guy Moller claims that how Zenith 2001 was done, was how they prepared it before their departure (except the tribute to Tabu Ley), also that the Tshafulu-cri was done in Tanzania. But I didn't hear Tshafulu back in Contre Attaque nor their concerts. Also if I remember well, Guy Moller and co already left before the Zenith-contract came, because Emeneya was in Europe at that time when they left. Also  Emeneya was interviewed in Paris or Brussels and a journalist asking him if he was aware that they left and him replying that everybody being still part of Victoria Eleison, only to convince them to return when coming in Kinshasa and saying that they would go to Zenith.It's crazy how Emeneya was against Didi Kinuani to pay cars for them to return and how he shouted at him. I guess that Emeneya was thinking that by buying cars for them, they would become big-headed and  do the same thing in the future when preparing a huge show or asking for a big money. The way they all kept refusing was crazy and accepting, but chagining the mind last minute. It was like they had a pact.

The idea Guy Moller had of wanting Emeneya to convince all together would not work, because he was like all bandleaders use the divide and conquer-tactic and it would be like he admit that he was wrong (something that all bandleaders would never do because of the pride they have).  If you look to interviews of Sweet Elesse, Zoe Bella and Sampaio. You will notice that Emeneya said to everyone that x or y, wasn't liking them. But it didn't work. I think that if one of them accepted, that everyone would end up by returning. The musicians of Victoria Eleison themselves messed it up by insulting and chasing Sweet Elesse when he was brought in at King Ranch. If they accepted, I am sure that Sampaio, Zoe Bella, Eric Masudi, etc. would follow one by one.

I think that almost all bandleaders had the same ideology as Emeneya of prefering to recruit musicians that had no children or still living with their parents. It's rare to see bands recruiting old/experienced musicians. Coco Tchomba was really lucky that Adricha Tipo Tipo defended him.

I understand the logic, a man in his twenties without children can manage with infrequent pay. He's an adventurous, performing next to a legend and some crumbs from donors is acceptable. But the pressure of having a wife and children doesn't allow the same tolerance.

If you noticed, the era of Les Marquis, Universal Zangul, Favelas Stars, and Academia saw key members already married or becoming parents for the second or third time. They need something more concrete –a house, regular salary, and you only get that by being in the driver's seat of your career.

Don't you believe that Papa Wemba is unfairly held responsible for Alpa's death? Let's not forget the culture that exist with dancers and their benefactors, sleeping with leaders or donors. Despite this, Alpha choose this woman like a wife, isn't that naive to believe she would be loyal?

That's interesting you mentioned that because going from a simple market salesman to diamond dealer is a rags to riches story worth sharing, why be ashamed of where you come from? At some point, everyone was a nobody from humble beginnings.

In Congolese culture, people tend to respect a rich person more if they come from a wealthy family rather than from a rich person who came from the bottom. Rich people who had a poor past are often bettiled by rivals and people that don't like them, which why they often pretend to come from a rich family as well or coming from x or y area instead of saying the truth that grew poor or  came from Masina, Kimbanseke or Malueka. Many of themalso  don't like  to be reminded of their past, since that people like to humilate them with it. Don't you notice when rich people, politicians or artists are in conflict, people tend to humilate them with them coming from x neighboorhood or saying that they have not the right to talk because of being poor and wanting to humilate them by saying that had nothing to eat. Gospel singer did an interview with Thierry Kabundi a few months ago and there revealed that he know Ferre from Kitokimosi, which made alot of people on social media, making fun of Ferre about that.


Here in the West it's totally different. People here often admire those who rise from the bottom. They are seen as fighters who earned their success, becoming role models and gaining respect because of how they fought to become the person they became. While those who come from a well known family , don't always carry the same respect, because people know that they benified for a big part from the name of their dad or family, which helped them alot to become the person they became. This is totally the opposite in Congo, where they value people coming from x or y family more. The family-name being like a brand. JB Mpiana sung a short part about it in Feux de l'Amour "famille na biso ezanga griffe, nani ako linga biso eh".

The way he reacted when coming out of his coma, made me wonder if Julie didn't put zakalah, her period or shit in his food, in order to dominate him so that  he wouldn't cheat on her and having total control over him.  If that it's the case that is the amount of insults and hate she received the years that followed just karma.

What became of her after Alpatchino's passing? I never heard about her since, is she in Europe or still in Kinshasa?

Julie apparently lives in Switserland now. She kept dancing for Papa Wemba until 2011, then she joined Koffi Olomidé for a short moment to leave him very quickly.
