jf did an interview with EMS(that warrior press guy with nose piercing) and he said that koffi and cindy have already killed mbilia bel spiritually and it was not them on stage at ING,it was a mermaid impersonating mere mbilia in the body of cindy hence the dancing(i swear he has not follow the cindy of 2010 2015 who was establishing herself as an important band member and cementing the bases of her love with koffi because she was dancing already,she then stopped when it became too obvious when koffi came out with the grey beard)

I did find it strange that Koffi would send Rolly of all people to Kin to recruit musicians when he originally ran away from the group in 2007, Asso or Eric Tutsi are more suited for that role.

In the interview JF Ifongé did with Ems, he changed the version of Depitcho's departure. Three or four years ago, he went hard on Depitcho because of him becoming close to Koffi and calling JF witch. So because of Depitcho's interview he went once again hard on him and said that Depitcho left because he didn't want Cesar Loboko to receive the same amount of money like him after having performed their first concert at Stade Charletty with Defao, Wemba, Emeneya and co.



But now JF Ifonge came with a different version, saying that fans in Kinshasa were waiting for them with the succes they had and that that Koffi kept calling him to return back to Quartier Latin. After seeing that he didn't succeed to convince JF Ifonge, he sended Reddy Amisi to them to let convince Depitcho to leave AGB and return to Quartier Latin. Depitcho then made his luggage ready to return back to Kinshasa with Quartier Latin only to discover that they already went back to Africa and Depitcho calling Koffi, Koffi then taking the phone and saying that he had to talk with Fally. Lol I don’t believe this version, because Fally was still a nobody by the time the group was returning to Africa after the Bercy tour, it would make more sense for Koffi to tell Depitcho he had to talk to Champion, Mamale and co unless it was a purpose 12. But maybe Koffi called Depitcho back to split AGB stars because he didn’t want them to have a chance to succeed after the trauma of academia especially since he just got Bouro back.
AGB was a flop did they even have any concerts? I remember seeing a picture of Depitcho dancing at one of their concerts which was part of a festival and the review said their part was good and they had the QL sound.
If JF wasn’t suspended and was able to sing in Attentat then who would’ve been left behind in favour of JF? The attentat singing line up was perfect.

It’s a good question. Everybody in Attentat’s line-up were far better singers than JF Ifongé. I don’t think Koffi would have left Lola Muana behind for JF, because Lola Muana was one of Koffi’s favorites alongside Fally and Depitcho. Maybe Spino or Jipson Butukondolo. But Spino was already known for his many TV appearances with Victoria Eleison and Koffi gave him the nickname of the Brazilian soccer player Romario, since he had to play next to “Ronaldo” (Depitcho) in the attack. Those lists were so difficult to make. I am sure Koffi was getting headaches when putting together the list for Attentat and Bercy.

Apart from backing Général Défao in two concerts (Luxembourg and Strasbourg), AGB only had one other major event, which the concert at Stade Charléty, where several artists performed (Papa Wemba, King Kester Emeneya, Général Défao, etc.). After the concert, they immediately split up with rumors spread that it was over women. Some said JF Ifongé had slept with one of Savanet Depitcho’s girlfriends, while others claimed that it was Savanet Depitcho who slept with one of JF Ifonge's  the girlfriends. However, in one of JF Ifongé’s interviews, he said the story about him having slept with Depitcho's girlfriend not being true and that Depitcho needed to stop to spread those stories and that the conflict was  about Depitcho not wanting to receive the same amount of money as Cesar Loboko.

It’s a shame that AGB never recorded an album. It would have been interesting to hear the result. Because most people in Europe didn’t see them as singers, but just as dancers and despite the big buzz that their departure created, people weren't believing that they would go far.

if agb were serious they could have been a force like academia,because i remember they started recruiting in kinshasa with rocky blanchard and late ondo,and there was guys like cousteau lufuluabo "mopiwi" and co

I don't know what the reason was. Koffi suddenly started playing mind games with Mamale. Mamale received a lot of 12s in Kinshasa. When the trip for Zenith 2001 came, Koffi decided to leave him behind. Koffi probably saw that he was becoming to big. In Quartier Latin, whenever someone grows too big, they always receive a 12s and eventually left behind for Europe-tours or Koffi trying to create a rivalery (for example Depitcho vs Bouro Mpela, Fally vs Bouro Mpela, etc.). However, I think that despite those 12s, Mamale would have made the Zenith trip if Deo Brando hadn't joined. Deo's arrival was a blessing for Koffi, as it allowed him to totally humiliate Mamale since they both had the same role. In an interview with Ado Yuhe, Mamale revealed that when he arrived in Europe on his own, he asked Koffi why he had been left behind. Koffi claimed that another bandleader, who was also dating Tabou Fatou like Mamale, asked him to do so. But I don't believe the reason Koffi gave to Mamale.

After losing the chef d'orchestre role to Felly Tyson, the original idea was also to leave him behind. However, people close to Koffi convinced him not to so and to let him travel along with Île de Cambodge, fearing that he might join Wenge BCBG or Nouvelle Écriture and go hard against them, since Champion had a big mouth at that time

It's too bad Champion didn't stick with BCBG after he left Koffi. Champion seemed to adapt pretty well to the style of Wenge and he convinced with the concerts of Extra Musica International. I'm sure Seguin had something to do with him not staying with BCBG, you know he hated to share the drum kit.

According to Champion himself, he didn’t stay long in Wenge BCBG because apart from the boss, almost nobody in the band liked him. I don’t know exactly what happened, but he didn’t even finish the short tour BCBG had in Europe (2002). Instead, he showed up at Koffi’s press conference in Paris in the summer of 2002, where he announced his return to Quartier Latin.

When Quartier Latin arrived in Europe, Champion had to meet Titina and Cambodge to discuss how to share the roles. However, Titina and Cambodge didn’t want to have a third drummer. So when Champion came for the conversation, Cambodge immediately confronted him and since both men already disliked each other, it turned into a fight. Champion left the hotel angry and disappointed.

Shortly afterward, he also tried to meet Nyoka Longo to join Zaïko, but Nyoka Longo refused, since all the musicians who had come from Quartier Latin (Rocky Blanchard, Willy Bula, Rosette Kamono and the late Yoto Nkelani) had ended up disappointing him. This situation forced Champion to put his full-time music career on hold and start looking for another job, while in the meantime doing studio work backing different artists (such as Savanet Depitcho on his album Projecteur, and comedian Siatula on his album Affair Ngulu, among others).
