I saw this on Facebook and it shows since Wenge 4x4 all the way up until now Werra has only 22 songs where it’s just him singing and no vocals from his musicians.
For the career he’s had that’s actually quite shocking and a bit pathetic lol

lol thats a funny stat,a bit like jb and the songs to his name after 4X4 i counted with my brother few months ago, without the generiques, and it was barely above 50 for 27 years of post 4X4 career, this because of the big gaps between albums surely

Yeah but JB gets a pass because of the gap between albums but Werra has been consistant since 4x4 which makes this stat quite shocking. 22 songs that’s literally a whole album that Fally Ferre and Fabregas are capable of doing 22 tracks of just them singing without vocals featuring their musicians.
But Jb as well even someone like But na filet has released more songs to his name then Jb loool but obviously none of those songs are memorable at all compared to Jb

At the end of the day, Werra is a big part of Congolese music history! He did a lot of great vocals and gave a platform to a lot of the artist we enjoyed through the years, for that, he's a legend in my book.

No one said he isn't a legend or isn't a big part of history lol, it's just the stat itself is quite insane cause it isn't even noticeable. He didn't even sing by himself on a single song in his first solo album Kibuisa Mpimpa. In my opinion I still think 4x4 Werra was a decent singer and he should've sung more in that style.

there was no makaba to push him(and jb later also declining with lack of "authoritative" artistic direction) anymore, lol makaba was a savage, you would not leave the studio until he's satisfied, and he'd look at you straight in your face and tell you that he has already agreed on some free sessions with the owners since he did a lot of session work and built strong friendship with them so dont come at him with leave it like that because more sessions for one song would be unnecessary spending, like it or not you would repeat the same thing even if it took a whole week  ;D ;D ;D
i wonder how he'd have handled how things turned in early 2000's with hundred of people in studio while he was furious with more than 10 20 already and some people even wanting to get a raw version of full songs to boast with friends "i was in studio with x"

That’s insane. Also 50% of the 22 songs are from 7 jour de la semaine. Remove that album and those who came after it and he will only have 8 songs that he sung alone.

I guess that the beef he had with Ferre and Heritier at that time, motivated him to sing alone, to prove people a point. The same how people claimed he sung Telephone alone because of the way Koffi was mocking him interviews.

And he still sings off-key at concerts. Werra has never been a great singer. he had the formula to be successful and he took it.

Werra has reinvented himself continuously and is doing very well with his new release but you'd rather find reasons to belittle his success. Good music is good music whether he sings alone or incorporates other singers in the song. Many artists have so many songs that they sing alone and they are largely ordinary & unnoticeable. Werra found a formula that works for him & he sticks to it

Werrason’s artistic evolution is one of the most remarkable in Congolese music. Every era he has touched carries a distinct sound, a fresh lineup and a refined sense of musical identity. While others burn out or repeat themselves, he recalibrates and returns sharper, more relevant and more connected to the streets and the stage.

People who criticise him for using supporting voices overlook the genius of his direction. He is not just a singer but a conductor; a builder of sonic architecture where every vocalist, guitarist and atalaku fits into a deliberate design. His music breathes because it is communal, not self-centred. That has always been the secret behind his staying power.

What frustrates many of his detractors is that he keeps producing impactful songs long after others have faded. They look for flaws to explain away his dominance instead of admitting that his formula continues to work because it is authentic. Werrason does not chase the limelight; he builds it. Each release is a reminder that leadership in music is not about noise but about vision, discipline and timeless execution.
