I couldn't stop about the way Mbuta was talking about his vieux from IPN, being mad he never succeed in music and starting insulting his fans.

The way Papa Wemba, Emeneya and Rumba Ray had succes in Japan, you would think that it would come the third base of Congolese music, after Africa and Europe, but after the early 1990s, no Kinshasa-based went there anymore. Nouvelle Ecriture was linked for a tour in 1998, but Wemba ended up by postponing the tour and the contract ending up by getting cancelled. Emeneya said in the days of Zenith/Olympia that they would soon tour in Japan, but they never came. During the Titanic-days, when Wenge BCBG did the US and Canada after Bataclan, they said that they received a contract for Japan, but they also didn't come.




Like, Mbuta Likasu, Didier Lacoste's name immediately came to my head and I was like him imaging how much noise he would make if he would get a contract for Japan hahahaha



I always thought that Wenge 4x4 only did four or five cities in the USA during their Pentagone tour and the rest being tour-dates of Canadian and European cities. It’s impressive to see that they actually performed in 23 states. Aside from Zaïko Langa Langa’s Familia Dei during their second tour and Tabu Ley, I don’t think any Kinshasa-based band has covered that many states.They could have toured there earlier, back in 1992, but they refused since they had already spent months touring Europe. They wanted to return to Zaire, which made Aimé Buanga ended up taking that contract instead.



During the height of the Maison Mère vs. BCBG rivalry, neither of them toured the US extensively, they mostly performed in New York, Boston, and Washington D.C., with the rest of their shows being in Canadian cities. I also noticed that it was mainly Wenge BCBG who hyped up their North American tours (1998, 1999 and 2001), whereas Maison Mère,  apart from the one in 1999, theystayed quiet about the tour they  did in 2002. It makes me wonder whether that tour actually went well or if it was just a lie that they went there, to impress the public of Kinshasa.



It's crazy how Burkina Faso immediately left Wenge 4x4 just after coming from Pentagone. According to Burkina himself, it was due to Defao having to tour in Zambia, but no lead guitarist in Big Stars knowing his repertoire well, Defao on that moment also just coming from Europe, but all musicians having left that went to Europe. Defao then saying to Burkina Faso that it would be just for 1 week, but them ending up spending a month touring Zambia and Malawi. Burkina Faso recognized in the interview where talked about it, that itwas wrong from him to not inform Werrason and JB Mpiana about it.



I just regret how Mbuta interrupted Junior, when he was talking how he sung in the chorus of Rigobert Song and wanting to talk about his contributions to the album.

Was Burkina's absence filled by Japonais Maladi? I noticed he was present around the time they showcased Pentagone at Maman Angebi. I can see why JB Mpiana and Werra gave Burkina a hard time during his spell between BCBG and Maison Mere, he was jumping around too much lol
