It’s a good way to look at things. The BCBG musicians are boring. Fudji and Abraham had the potential but they didn’t create enough buzz for themselves. Abraham should’ve caused more of a scene when he got the album opportunity. He had everything needed to go.Another thing, a bit off topic but if you look at Fally/Ferre apart from the art, they always innovated with a new look. Was rewatching Ferre’s clips pre QEDT. You could see how he was marketing himself to stay hot on the scene. Ferre always reinvented himself for every album since MM days. Cool short interviews, new hairstyles, trendy clothes etc. I remember going to Kin in 2008 and the city was under Ipupa’s swag influence with the American hats etc. Now you got Mr. Magoda trying to look like a minister all the time 🤡The new boys need to step it up.
i was chatting with friends yesterday night about the state of our music in general and a friend of mine who used to be a hardcore maison mere fan and is now a strooooooong warrior(haha man even has that fally ipupa signature writing he has adopted since the tokoos series like how some people have gucci or versace design on some of the walls of his house,a bit weird for me but hey each to his own lol) and he raised an interesting point for mehe said this,a lot of people criticise bcbg both for how musicians overstay in the band and it kills some talent's fast evolution because they have to wait for their turn and how musicians do not blossom in solo career coming from bcbg and he said this, the fact that bcbg is a very secret group which deals internally with musicians conflicts and pretty much do most of their things in discretion without not much mediatic fuss is a first reason(he was always comparing everything to maison mere),then the fact that bcbg musicians leave one by one is for him another cause for the issues people see in bcbghe gave examples of maison mere with les marquis, koffi with academia, papa wemba with nouvelle ecriture de l'an 2000,kester with dream team even wazekwa with the massive exodus to quartier latin and said such thing never happened in bcbg,i informed him about a cameroonian producer trying to lure most of the team of th to form a band back in 2003 2004 2005 to punish jb around a personal issue and he kind of punched his other hand like "dammmmnnn should have happened maybe ferre and co would have stayed longer to face a younger generation "and he continued saying the fact it never happened with bcbg never put jb in a situation of pressure of having to react to a proper challenge around his band, losing key members one by one just can have the effect of jesters convicing leaders to drop massively their level of promotion of talent to avoid having future "traitors" while losing simultaneously a part of the core of the group can challenge you to try to prove a point and he gave example when the legendary keyboard pair of bcbg ran away together in states,it offered a challenge to replace them or recently the tragic loss of the two drummersand he said if cases like that happened earlier and in a different context it would have forced bcbg to operate differently especially back when "ecuries" were still very influent in our music and musicians backed by each of them would have created public competition for the best interest of the group and also it would have created a cyclic rhythm of mass departure which would have kept the fans on their toes having to see different generations instead of about 4 5 generations of musicians in the same band because priority will always go to the long term known face and those faces would be caught up by age naturally and be less interesting to talk about another friend went on with the fact that none of the guys who leave manage to set a beef either with jb or within themselves to catch attention of people since people love polemicanother one again said the bcbg guys who left in order to succeed have to do the opposite of what jb does,jb can afford leaving in his own world and luxury and all that because he has 40 + years of professional music and 30+ Of solid fame so even though it affects him in the way some people perceive him or put him in the hierarchy of the biggest stars of our music, stuff like his average 6 7 years between albums is "amortized" by the big aura jb has build through his wenge 4X4 and bcbg primes,so they have to be in media a lot unlike jb,try to release a lot unlike jb,not putting having a luxurious lifestyle even through their rehearsal venues as their immediate priority since even if they start from trenches if their music work out they'll get money, and he gave example of robinio who had less vocals and exposure that every musician that had left bcbg except metro but managed to become financially stable and earn a name as a solo artistdo you agree with the guys that the lack of drama is a massive reason for bcbg's internal and external issues?
