Djo Nickel was a former singer of Grand Zaiko Wawa, who used to sing like Nyoka Longo. Before joining Grand Zaiko Wawa, he used to be part of Ngouma Lokito's band in N'djili alongside late Djo Poster and others. After leaving Grand Zaiko Wawa, he formed his own band Super Wawa. Having musicians like Adamo Ekula and Rolls Papillion (former guitarist of Empire Bakuba). But he sadly didn't succeed and decided to settle in Angola with his family. In Angola he would sometimes team up with former Quartier Latin singer Djunafa to do first parts of Sam Mangwana or when Congolese bands would perform in Luanda. I was very surprised to hear that Djo Nickel  lives in the United States. I always thought that he had already passed away, since different people claimed that he was no longer part of this world. I understand how demotivating it can be to go solo, while your former boss and people who see you as a threat create obstacles to make you fail. It’s probably also the reason why many of his generation became brothers in Christ. It's a shame why he didn't want to reveal what the problem was between him and Pepe Felly Manuaku. I would like to see him do an interview with Mr. La Rumba, to go more into the details about his music-career
