NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

It is a big loss for French-speaking African media. I always thought he was Ivorian until I discovered through his biography that he was actually from Cameroon. I feel sorry for his colleague Yves Junior Zogbo, with whom he created the legendary AfriCar Awards, which took place in Ivory Coast, Paris, and once in Gabon. The event selected the best artists from Africa and the Caribbean between 1991 and 1998. It is a shame that they stopped organizing it. Luckily, the Kora Awards were there to continue celebrating African music.

He was my favorite MC. Nobody was able to present Koffi Olomidé better than him.  During the period when Koffi was preparing for his concert at the Paris La Défense Arena (U-Arena), I was hoping to see Consty Eka on stage presenting him again. Consty Eka also presented Papa Wemba, Extra Musica, Youssou N'Dour and others. But it was always something special when he introduced Koffi at shows in Ivory Coast and Cameroon. The highlights of Consty Eka presenting Koffi were definitely the concerts at Olympia, Zénith de Paris and Bercy.. Koffi was gracious enough to showcase him at the Olympia so the Congolese audience could notice him, during the performance of the song Magie.  The funniest moment while presenting Koffi was during Koffi’s 1996 show in Ivory Coast, when Consty Eka would introduce him and Somono kept shouting in between: “Système ya Marteau!”, “Papa Mukulukulu!”, “Le Vieux Ndika!”. Constry Eka also contributed for a part of Champion Esthétique's popularity around Africa, for mentioning his name during performances of Koffi in Ivory Coast and Paris, before Koffi would come on stage.

Like journalists as As Diop, Yves Dembela, Yves Junior Zogbo, Consty Eka was getting alot of shout-outs by Congolese artists during the late 1990s. But the best shout Consty Eka reeceived can't be other than the way Doudou Copa did in Etat Major by mentioning him followed by late Ahmed Bakayoko.

My goodness RIP. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting him in Abidjan many years ago. His personality and kindness was a great as his MC voice but remaining humble.

It’s sad that the most of the folks that put the genre on the map permanently have passed now

Yves Zogbo Junior is the last on standing. Consty Eka was so synonymous with CIV that most of us thought he was Ivorian

Koffi shared a video in which Consty Eka reveals that the head of Bercy refused to let them use the escalator for Koffi’s entrance, saying it was only reserved for major stars like Johnny Hallyday. Consty Eka then had a conversation with the venue director, who set a condition: they could only use the escalator if they managed to fill Bercy. He didn’t believe they would succeed and thought they would only fill 25% of the arena. However, when they eventually sold out Bercy, he had no choice but to give them access to the escalator
