this shows why i am against the way leaders take glory in some of their ex band members succeeding, because becoming a new leader is close to how university is to high school, technically its  just 1 2 3 or most class ahead like the class before the final one were just a yearly progression but its a completely different world where you depend on yourself more than ever, you can be the son of a billionaire have a chauffeur and home teachers yet still completely fail to handle the all round life of university
and leadership in congolese music is like that, you'll feel like you have all the freedom of the world especially when you leave the house of very strict parents, you'll have some advantages you did not have earlier, but then it how resilient you are to the blows you'll take which will take you up till the end,and the credit has to go to nobody but yourself, unless your parents paid your univ and there they can be some "return of pride"
but in our music first you life 99,999999 percent angry with the leaders, then most people who were helping you in bands will turn on you either automatically or on order,so you have to reinvent yourself
i have a lot of respect for fally and ferre especially since they are the only ones to have had a solid 20 years despite ups and downs but they never collapsed and they held to their own in the usual so called father and son challenge instead of crumbleing and bowing down which can be detrimental to their careers somehow
its you against yourself, sometimes against your so called "fathers" and your enemies, and its not easy if you are not very strong mentally
and this has been the common disease of bcbg ex members, they left being prepared to face nothing and spent most of their careers giving hand for help to various "fathers" until the "nicest" one eventually settles them somehow instead of taking risks to try to push their music, while its supposed to be a game where nobody has to be there to hold you by the hand permanently

Pathetic. Just as we got rid of Kibens this guy chooses to come back. He’s most likely just trying to get back into Europe with this supposed alleged European tour lmao.

haha or be sent to europe like bogus, but knowing how him and most ex bcbg guys always look backwards when going solo instead of looking forward he's well capable of just be there again to stay, now we'll see if he can accept a role like caludji, because when he was in bcbg he was one hell of a selfish guy in terms of micro time sharing,it was often rio and jdl sacrificing so that the younger ones can participate in chorus

Could you do a post talking about what's necessary short-term and long-term steps for artists breaking from a big group for solo career? I think it's interesting to see where Abraham Mignon, Ibirator, and others fell short. What artists like But Na Filet and Deplik are doing to stay in the game and advice for Ambassy Bourgeois.

here is my take on what it takes to succeed as a leader in congolese music

the basics
good looks, minimum decent singing, dancing is quite important aswell, then having a little fanbase already you'll build on
you can succeed with or without much singing time in groups

the weapons
you have to have either a good producer willing to invest on you,or a crop of donors willing to cover for the lack of producer, because the hardest part in our music is promotion, previous generations had a bit more of a professional conscience and could accept to promote for free for a period until you get to pay them some sort of pack but nowadays promotion people want every second of what they do for you paid

the mindset
succeeding in solo is not just about the fact you'll get for the first time of your life more than 2 songs which is the maximum destined to the biggest band favourites, you have to have a philosophy,a target,an ideology to go with how you handle your career
some might prefer to build the star fast so that at the end the artist's work instantly become hits because of an extremely close bond with public and intense promotion aswell(fally's approach for example),some might prefer the artist to grow gradually while doing some of the things stars do but trying their best to keep a semi-antisystem image and want to keep too much control of their career without feeling in debt to others ( the style of jb ferre)
another important point of the mindset is that very very very very rarely it starts softly between leaders and ex members,or sometimes its a lowkey fake relationship like fabro and beckham so you have to manage to create a strong quantity of the two first points in order to counter all those who will refuse to help you or be ordered not to,you have to be ready to literally be targetted with stones and pieces of wood, like it happened with ferre when he returned to kin during les marquis imminent collapse
there is a third category of mindset its the underdog, like robinio but na filet gally garvey with the younger ones, guys who were not expected there but their audacious plan of spamming relentellesly songs to fans on a regular basis and their low profile attitude  making them benefit from a lot of sympathy from people involved in promotion, giving them cut prices and so on(until the guys either grow an ego or "attack/defend against the wrong person" like it happened with but na filet and robinio)

relationship

like it or not even if you cant stand some of them, you have to know ministers, directors of cabinet, deputies, high graded army people colonel general and so on who have equally the money to support you as a donor in return of helping their name becoming famous or cementing their names more
and also in cases like visas for yourself or your band,or to dodge some "traps" put in your way by ex leaders they can just call somebody to overturn something or intervene in favour of you with the ex leader
i apologise with all my heart if this example offends somebody but for example werra once said in a cryptic way when he reconciled with heritier that he'll call a couple of people for him and people will see a massive difference in how his albums are played in kinshasa, and it happened with the recent albums, its something very common but just the  last notable example i can think of was that one or also when fabregas was cool with koffi at first before the disstracks

spirituality

whether its catholic, christian in general or muslim or satanic forces, you have to stand somewhere, because anyways many donors wont help you as much if you are not their brother, because either the leaders or jesters will try stuff against you,a lot of our artists feel that there is potentially danger almost everywhere so many of them are polyreligious, they can have stints of praying as muslim, then buddhism and those middleeast religions, then catholics and its hidden dark side and so on
also it seems whether it works or not people like that confidence our artists tend to have when they get into the "game"
you have to have a very strong connection with yourself and a strong self belief without being just delusional(hello tondolo lacoste lol) so all the "enhancers" are seen as welcome

side business

some artists tend to quickly have side business which help them have a semi self funding career(the rest done by a producer and donors),it helps them deal with some of the instruments passports and so on issues  when they need,or more often help them with their image because they dont then always need to beg a donor to fund every single business class trip to europe, and it helps in paying studio, like the case of deplick who often already records most of his stuff then signs for production/distribution
him and ambassy however fall in the category of "because they are not friends with the right person" so they manage to succeed against all odds, like with boloss or the recent concert where some people even bet money that if there is 100 people they'll give money to the other

I wasn't even aware that Ferre was targated by stones when he returned to Kin. Did Bill receive similair attacks or was Ferre the only one to be attacked by WMM-fanatics ?

he was even hit by one,he had a scar around his eye at some point it was people of gestapo ya poids if i remember well who saved him by jumping him into a car  because it was coming harder than that i believe one car had the windshield broken among the cars following and it happened that it was the wife of a colonel and one of the guys was caught and arrested because of that, another incident happened when he went to ngiri ngiri to a funeral of one of the staff london guys it had to take police to get him out of there some of his guys were hit
bill was also threatened but it stopped quick the main focus was on ferre because it was reported that he insulted werra when they were given that ultimatum to return, while it was just that he was ranting in private about allegedly being slapped by werra when asking about money
so his case was considered like he is the worst traitor by "insulting "werra while ferre gave him a boost by making him an indirect jb rival
there is an interview of ferre with his friend willy kayembe where he almost stops interview as he starting to cry when talking about those moments

THIS, AM AGAINAST
The fact that our good brother shamala doesn’t want this move should say it all. This return is embarrassing 13 years he’s been out of the group saying he left to give youngsters a chance, he will be the first out of Jb’s children to succeed the guy didn’t even release an album. In his concerts he kept using the zenith 1999 entrance as his own entrance.

Not only the entrance lol man literally played for like 5 years the full show plus sometimes his bcbg songs in between
shows that it was clearly a move without any plan, genta was smart in backing out from the plan now he is the unofficial chef d'orchestre and one of the most if not the most stable band members, there is no point in going solo if you are not moving forward at all
haha the way i am seeing some maison mere and bcbg fans united in bashing him,for various reasons lol

How is it possible that such things reached Werrason's ears? Are there double agents among the staff that artists have?

Chai was rejected from joining the BCBG group

JB didn’t want Chai in the group because he wanted to give BCBG a fresh start after Kibens’ departure. Tolbert Solo became Artistic Director, and Genta became Head of Government, albeit unofficially. Chai just didn’t fit this new direction.

Most of the musicians, except JDL and Rio, didn’t want him back because of several videos where Chai undermined the younger members’ contributions and publicly insulted Genta in various media. Chai was implicitly aware of this: JB never directly said “no,” but said he’d discuss it with the orchestra, which Chai took as a rejection.

Trying to turn things around, Chai released multiple videos, thinking fans would be excited about his return but the reaction was the opposite. He even got threats from BCBG fans. In response, he said, “If the fans don’t like me, it’s fine they’ll have to see me in BCBG anyway,” which only confirmed the group’s decision not to take him back.
