He said when he left quartier latin and came to europe on his own in 2001 koffi contacted him via people so that he comes and participates to effrakata recording but his staff and himself discussed it and he thought it was not a good idea, then two years later koffi approached again he was more keen as he had already had two years in europe with its difficulties so it was tempting to go back to africa with quartier latin and restart coming and going back home but like with the first time he had a second thought and abandoned the idea
he respects and understands the fact some of his colleagues return to quartier latin but he thinks thats not for him,he prefers giving space to the new guys

Mamale participated in some of the recordings in effrakata you can hear him in the chorus of Gilba hence why that chorus sounds different compared to the rest of the album

it could also be that this song was pre recorded earlier at least the chorus since the same year koffi already sang it with pierrette adams a year before, like how  the skola miel song was done in magie but released in ultimatum without her, unless he came to one or two sessions then disappeared again

I haven’t seen the interview yet. But seeing the summary, I believe that it was a right decision from Mamale to not rejoin Quartier Latin in Europe. Koffi was probably not happy that he made it in Europe, despite having left him behind and knew that he was about to get papers.Koffi often holds a grudge when he isn't able to humilate his former employees like he wants. He always asks his musicians, household staff and administrators to rejoin  after they have left or when they are about to move forward in their careers, only to humiliate them and diminish them until they are worthless. Look for example how Rocky Blanchard used to be chef de repetition in Zaiko and about to get in Europe with them. But Koffi asking him to return, to not even applyr a visa for him to get  to Olympia.

I also believe that Koffi contacted him in 2003 to rejoin  after hearing that he joined Viva Tendance. Beniko Popolipo once revealed in the many interviews he did with Teddy Mola, that when Karmapa’s Je m’Appelle Toi started to become a success in 2004, Koffi sending a voice-mail to him to rejoin and participate on Monde Arabe

Talking about missed Europe-trips. Members of Quartier Latin often lose part of their aura after being left behind during a European tour. For example, Willy Bula in 1995, Babia in 1996, and Suzuki in 1998. Before those trips, they had a certain aura that they never fully regained after being left behind. Willy Bula was at his prime before V12 and Babia as well before Ultimatum. But after those trips, it was like something was off

Yeah I agree it was good he didn’t return, I just don’t see how he would’ve fit in the lineup in 2003/04 the group was stacked including those that remained in Kin.
Yeah it’s true all those that missed Europe trips aren’t the same when they come back. Babia during the Olympia tour he was just in the background, Jordan Kusa wasn’t the same during the Monde Arabe tour, Eric Tutsi when he returned in 2004 he was just there.
