The best way to explain this is to give an example of JB Mpiana's bands. Everyone knows JB's main band is Wenge BCBG then he later recruited some younger musicians he called PPU then eventually the two fuse into one and a some more years later he recruits younger players and he changes the name from PPU to something like Bana Boma, it's the same with Papa Wemba, his main band was Viva La Musica then later Nouvelle Ecriture ,he had a Europe based band Nouvel Tendances, when he returned to Kin, he maintained Nouvelle Ecriture and then recruited younger musicians called Bana Malongi and the two bands take turns and sometimes mix but you find that some senior members like also sing along when it's Bana Malongi's turn,the same goes for the guitarists, the Viva La Musica/nouvelle ecriture guitarists are Tosha on Bass,Costa Pinto on rhythm and the lead soloist is Dady Bola then you have Bana Molongi guitarists, these also play when Papa Wemba is on stage, I only know the soloist who is called Zamba,he's now like the lead soloist as there was a time Dady Bola left and that's when Zamba took over.
