when he was in maison mere, he collapsed or something like that and was almost declared dead by doctors
i dont know if there are still those videos of him at hospital on youtube though
but he was in a really really bad situation,it was a proper miracle for him walking normally,talking let alone singing and dancing

He was straining just like Heritier and Taddet no wonder all 3 of them have suffered similar problems, Taddet has recovered fully it seems whilst Heritier still struggles, it's not very long ago when he went for medical attention in Europe, I think Archos has more details, I remember very well reading about that.
I could also say Adjani suffered the same due to straining his vocal cords as a result of the shouting when singing plus alcohol and drugs exacerbated the problem.

He was not used much for exactly the same reason I alluded to, his vocal cords troubled him to the point where he was being ridiculed by fans and colleagues on stage,once that happens at Maison Mére you are alone and sidelined till you leave out of frustration.

It all started from his throat problems that's when we saw the entrance of the other boy Matadien who has gone to Ferre's band, at one show, Taddet was also ridiculed by Werra, he failed to sing and Werra asked Matadien to sing Taddet's lines, I was surprised Taddet stayed on but it's good he did, he's now recovered and singing very well.
