Yeah that's probably the reason he's not been up to date with his music....but if he wants to get his degree then he should be applauded for that.

Yeah,he completed the course he was on in Europe,it was a diploma level course if I remember well and he soon after he returned to Kinshasa but still didn't go fully fledged into music,he went into politics and stood as a member of parliament(Deputy) and failed in his bid that's when he went back to revive his music career and based on the live extracts he's given in interviews it's gonna be a classic album.

If you look at the pics of the likes of Deplic then if that poster is what he intends to make as a cover to his album then this guy is stuck in the past. Things have gone high-tech he should up his game, its no longer just voice, you add pomp and colour to make it appealing. If he came up with another stupid video like the one he did with his brother then it will be unfortunate.

Music is not only about having a good voice, its more than that, Alain Mpela is one of the best singers of his generation, but he lacks focus and seriousness, he takes music lightly and he will never succeed, he will end up like the likes of Manda and Suzuki

I don't know what has made you conclude that he lacks seriousness. He briefly slowed down on music and went back to school, he completed his course and he's now back in music. We all have priorities, Alain doesn't believe in having music as a full time career and that's what his father a well known scholar emphasised to him and his siblings. It's because of stubbornness that Alain and his brothers continued in music. The two younger Mpela's are even fluent in English and do some fantastic R&B music.

He may not make the best out of all that he pursue, It could have been better if he chose one rather than doing all at the same time. Education is good but after school he can choose to do music full time and he can do better. But again if you keenly look at Allain he looks a guy that is too bossy and easily contented and one that cannot go extra mile to achieve greatness in music.I mean the stretch Ferre and Fally can go to get it done.  I don't blame him since he spent much time with JB as that may have contributed a lot to his personal character.

the comparison with fally and ferre is a bit unfair IMO,alain mpela was already a guy with over 10 years of career when ferre and fally started having success,and the period of his peak was in an era where those solo career did not exist yet
he blossomed already a lot as a group  so did them, but also they did continue in solo while entering their peak time (from 30 years old)
 like himself says he cant rewrite history to re create himself a second peak and i agree with him,maybe  if he had not chosen to prepare his politics career and gave his all on generation a he could have made that momentum last longer

Too bossy? I doubt. The guy seems down to earth and he's always calm and answers all questions in an honest way. When requested to sing a particular song he does so without hesitation, when asked to comment on Fally, Ferre, Koffi etc he does so openly and in an honest way.
The man is simply more focussed on having good qualifications and do other things apart from music. It is possible to combine work and music especially these days when musicians cannot even travel overseas and the local shows take place over the weekends.
