he asks why this polemic only appeared after his album was released,those guys wanted to create buzz on his back
after,he ironically says maybe they are his fans and he thanks them for making him promotion
he adds that he is soon releasing his international album,and that if somebody already has the songs he plans to release he should release it now and not wait  to release it three weeks after him and claim they are the author of the songs

Kiekiekiekie,maybe Fally should try blaming the composer of the song,why is he the only one who sings other people's songs,am sure he paid Adolphe Dominguez for the song Une Minute which he put on his album,that was another controversial move.

well to blame the composer of the song would probably mean to burn bridges. he's been getting some pretty good songs that would be counterproductive lol it's better for him that he replied this way. this is that charisma i was talking about in the other thread. he knows (is confident in his talent and production) that you put him up against anyone else singing the same song he will make it more interesting, exciting, etc.

I personally like both versions of the song but for wide range appeal the producers of fally's version definitely captured the song better. he's not in any danger from losing the spot light over this.

Does fally write ANY songs? does he collaborate with the song writers? or is he strictly a vocalist who pulls out his guitar every so often?

Fally,like most congolese artists writes almost nothing except very basic stuff,and you know nowadays everything is being sold
you can buy  a verse you include in a song, you can buy a cassette of somebdy singing the song and replicate the exact voice variations,guitar licks...pretty much everything
something you have up to 6 7 diferent people contributing to a song  which is at the end of the day credited to the singers like fally,ferre and co

ah i see. it seems to me congolese music has basically turned into the american pop music model as far as production and writing go (except here in the liner notes the proper people are usually credited properly so there's no mystery).

i know a lot of people are worried and hate to see congolese music go in this direction but i'm sure it is much cheaper and less stressful to be a solo artist than it is to be a band leader with equally contributing members. to be honest i am personally most interested in the final result than i am with who wrote ESPECIALLY with singing where the voice and performance is what matters most (with rap i'm more partial to people who write their own lyrics because its a more personal artform with the artist usually narrating their own experiences and thoughts).

the old big band model though ideal is probably not going to come back like before sadly. i think however what is needed right now is a singing group (rather than members of a band who can be cut at any time at the whim of the band leader). i think it would work well with the new model.

I blame all this on the artists themselves,i think they try to pull fast ones on the composers. A composer gives you something and you don't pay in full and stop taking their calls. The composer then sells the same song to someone else to teach you a lesson or he goes on tv saying he did that and he wasn't paid just like Eldorado did to Ferre who sampled Eldorado's songs,copied and then modified them without paying Eldorado. Mr Eldorado went on various tv stations complaining and saying he would release an album and it would have some of the songs in their original form not edited ones Ferre released.

ah yes i vaguely remember this being discussed on vibes d'afrique. that is HORRIBLE practice and it troubles me that this seems to be common practice among the big stars of congolese music.

i remember someone posting that a publishing company was being formed in the congo by some artists (i believe werrason was one of them) whatever the case is there definitely needs to be better regulation of these things on a legal level. i don't know what the laws are like in DRC but there definitely needs to be contract signing whenever songs are sold like this so that money exchanges hands before things are released. i find it kind of disgusting that this is how some of my favorite artists conduct business. it's sad.

also i don't blame the composers for going ahead and selling the song to others. if the first person they sold it to doesn't respect them enough to pay them then what they get is what they deserve.

That's right Mwana Nsalu,the musicians themselves need to clean up their act and be more professional,it would do them good if they sign contracts with composers. All these composers around like Eldorado, Do Akongo,Didier Milla and others have been writing and selling songs to big stars like Werra,Koffi etc for many years but we've never heard any issues it's because once they are paid,the deal sealed and the song is no longer theirs and everyone is happy.

I think the group that was formed is just to protect musicians interests and most likely against piracy. There have been similar groups formed in Kinshasa but in-fighting has always prevailed due to money donated by The nations President and other well wishers,the musicians are not united,too much polemic.
