koffi is right on this(with a bit of arrogance as usual),no way you can  give same  honour to simaro,to wemba,to jb,to werra,and so on....they deserve better than that and also each should get the honour he deserves
wha would have been smart is  several dates of different months or even year  with several generations of musicians
not all them(bar the one of fally and co which was ignored) on the same day

 he is saying he did not attend  the ceremony where werra jb and co received diplomas because he felt it was a lack of respect for them and the ministry of culture just did that to say " look you complained,so now we honour you when you are alive"(koffi and some other artists lamented the fact artists were only considered and given honour medals once they died) instead of doing it  based on a good intention
 then he said it was not normal that others artists  got the exactly same diploma as  papa lutumba who is the one with biggest history,then he also said it was not normal for himself to receive same diploma than some because he won 4 koras whereas some who he would not name to avoid polemic won none

Thanx for the translation, am failing to understand this, aren't these just awards to recognise or honour these talented musicians, they cannot be diplomas as they are not educational achievements so Koffi is just being stupid and controversial for nothing. What is kora awards,what an idiot he is,am sure it's JB Mpiana is trying to start with again. The government is not obliged to recognise musicians for their work especially not koffi's work which is absolute nonsense and not good for children.

DJ SLY you are a bit harsh, Honorifics are important to invigorate artist and appreciate them for the work they have done, not only for themselves, but in service of the country as a whole. Musicians are usually the ambassadors of our countries whereby they transcend borders with their talents raising the flags of our nations. Therefore its heritage on the making.
Its their duty "governments' to support and honor musicians bcz even in shows, they do get their Gross National Income aka GNP when these musicians do shows outside.

and he is  by very very very very far the congolese artists who complained the most about that lack of recognition over the last years

No, i stick to my words. The govts in most countries do not involve themselves with such stuff and they are not obliged to honour anyone, it is the the artists bodies which should be honouring musicians so if the congolese govt through the Ministry of Culture and Art decided to honour some musicians then they have gone out of their way to show their appreciation. As far as i know there are no titles given to musicians when they honoured in congo,what i mean is that in some countries like the UK ,we have titles they give to people that deserve to be honoured and these range from ordinary citizens,artists,musicians,sportsmen,teachers etc and you find that they will be given a title like OBE,CBE,Sir  etc so for instance they would honour Lutumba by putting the title after his name like Ndombanueno Lutumba Simaro OBE or Sir Nbombanueno Lutumba Simaro etc that's the sort of honouring they do.
In my own country Zambia,there is nothing like that,it's private companies which mainly give awards to deserving people and often it's in monetary value or a car or something,a few musicians have been honoured when the country is commemorating independence for instance one young boy 2 years ago got honoured because his song ''Donchi Kubeba'' was adopted by the ruling party of Zambia to tell the people that when politicians offer them cash during campaigns they should accept the money but they should vote only for the right candidates. Another very old musician was honoured for his independence song,those are the two i remember in Zambia so in Congo the govt has done really well and koffi should shut his mouth and praise the govt for their gesture.

You've described him correctly, he's finished unless he can redeem himself by changing his way now that he's about to release his last album. He's definitely one of the most educated musicians and he's the richest but his behaviour and actions show a thuggish side of him.
